It was sad to see this beautiful Zero go down in hundred pieces. But things happen, especially in the condition like this morning, which was so so foggy...

There's no way I would have flown such a beautiful scale plane like that, in those foggy conditions. Something smaller, cheaper and less effort went into it, sure, but NOT that Zero! But I get it, sometimes we want to fly that plane so bad, we take risks and think to ourselves, "Eh, it will be fine". In my early years in the hobby, I thought like that and lost at least a couple planes for it. I once wanted to fly so bad, I took a 40 sized trainer out to the field and flew it in 40 MPH wind gusts. Got it back down just fine, but HOLY COW! Needless to say, I was the only one at the field that day flying, so at least I had the entire field to myself for a day.

I flew in a couple of fog conditions just like yours but luckily, I was able to get my T-28 as well as my P-51 to reappear. But they truly are heart-pounding moments.

Unlike you, my friend was not in luck this time. We could only hear the plane. When it appeared, it was about 5 metres above the ground.

He was so sad and I did not even see him at the field for a while.
