i love tutorials, too many "crafters" show the beginning and then the end and leave the fill work for us to guess at. your video using pins to hold the foam core when making buildings was awesome. i never would have thought to use ap glue and pins, much cheaper than glue guns.

***** I know what you mean mate, as long as people don't mind the ad-hoc filming, I'll keep making the vids :-D

you could temporarily hot glue tacks onto your MDF to transfer the pattern onto the bottom of your foam
@TheTerrainTutor8 жыл бұрын
+Sean Edgar You could, might be a bit excessive time wise bud

hehe yea but you are in a kinda way! Mel the TV superstar- move over Handy Andy here comes the Terrain Tutor!! ;) I have a q for you! Can you advise on an airbrush- if you even use one that is- I would like to get one for doing my transports and tanks etc but I am on a budget- e-bay does seem to do some pretty good looking ones but I dont want to part with £60 -++ for sommit thats only fit for nail art or inks etc. May be a good short video but just a nod in the right direction would be greatly appreciated- if not from your good self maybe one of your viewers could recommend a cheepo for me :) Please :D
@TheTerrainTutor9 жыл бұрын
LOL. To be honest mate, i'm the last person to be asking about airbrushes, I'm still learning to use mine. Try checking out ***** on WGC, I learned loads from his airbrushing playlist :-)

I should have watched all the video first ! Ha. But the method you use for the transfer to another poly sheet would also work for the original shape.
@TheTerrainTutor9 жыл бұрын
Anthony Little Not sure what you mean mate? I wouldn't be able to push something through mdf to mark the outline.
@AppleMak20109 жыл бұрын
Hi, just a thought on transferring a 'complex' shape to the poly. Why not use thin newspaper or even baking sheets/tissue/tracing paper and trace out the shape from the baseboard, then transfer to the poly? This can either be by cutting out the shape and drawing around it, or putting the whole sheet down on the poly sheet and "pinning" it (that is using a pin to make a line of holes and then dusting dark chalk or charcoal on the sheet which will transfer to the poly? Does any of that make sense? It was something I used to do in painting when I wanted to copy a complex image. As ever, interesting vid. Cheers
@TheTerrainTutor9 жыл бұрын
Anthony Little All good tips mate and if it was complicated, I'd probably go down that route but in this case, it was a pretty simple :-)

Wow that is a big project Mel. Hope you do a video every day on it lol. My question is about using the foam cutter. My wife pitches a fit when I use mine in the house saying "..you are going to kill us all.." meaning her,myself and our cats. Whats the deal with the fumes from this? Is it bad or what?
@TheTerrainTutor9 жыл бұрын
BlackTower Terrain Not sure about everyday, but I'll try to do another on the project. Polystyrene fumes are toxic and you do need ventilation, as long as you've got that covered, you should be fine but at the end, it's down to you mate

Shannon Stokely You're not the first to raise that issue, unfortunately, there's no way of editing the video once it's up on youtube.
@pblackcrow9 жыл бұрын
Yes there is actually, you can post a link to the picture at the top or where ever..
