That was the point of it all. Roger learned the truth, but knew he couldn't be the one to usher it in. And there's that great contrast, Roger knew his time was up and he went out on his terms. Big Mom sought cling to her position as long as possible and it eventually cost her.

You know what’s funny? This is a fitting end for Big Mom Think about it, she is the one character in all of One Piece who was the most concerned about growing her empire. She wanted the name Big Mom to be a title no one would dare cross or live to forget. She wanted to outlast everyone and everything. Her devil fruit is symbolic of that, it supports her aspirations to stay alive and grow her empire by being able to steal life from others. I’m just rambling here but I hope those reading find it interesting

That's how she always was though. She only ever used intimidation and her minions to do everything for her. She was incredibly prideful and overconfident in her abilities because she was freakishly strong from a young age. Big mom didn't just put on a lackluster performance here, it was her entire life. She only relied on fear the whole time, cementing her demonic reputation but at the same time spelling her downfall. She was only capable of very basic one on one combat and used her homies and giant flashy intimidating attacks to put her enemies off their game so she could steal their souls. If big mom had trained her freakish power as much as her df she would be literally invincible

The loudest woman in the seas falls silent. This is a very sad defeat. All Linlin ever wanted was attention, her dream was beautiful and noble but life took her down a path of cruelty. I keep telling myself that this is the villain most similar to Luffy, you will see more clearly why in the next episode... Thanks for everything Big Mom, despite the fight having many script holes, you needed to fall for the new generation to advance. I hope she comes back. The work's best-crafted villain can't die in a battle that didn't even use all of her power. There's still a lot of history of this woman. Note: Toei did not value the Empress' downfall.

honestly don't think she's dead. She can put souls in any object so long as the victim feels fear. Big mom obviously FEARS her DEATH at this moment when we see HER LIFE FLASHES...if she can put People's souls in inanimate objects then I wonder if she controlled her own body enough to displace her Own soul in an inanimate object. Her power is so good that I think it has potential that her body may die but the consciousness of big mom lives on in another person or object. Her allys may say shes dead but knowing oda and his plot twists... Something may be brewing behind the scenes
