*BRO I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS ISSUE FOR SO LONG AND YOU FIXED IT, THANK YOU*

I can't believe how easy it is to fix this glitch. I use lattice mod, a lot, on my personal artwork. I do abstract stuff. Lately I've been avoiding rendering animations because of how time expensive it is to go frame by frame, seeing which one is glitched and then re-rendering it without motion blur. I've ran into this issue with client work and it is THE WORST, when deadlines are tight, the last thing you want is having to fix a bunch of glitchy frames. I can't thank you enough dude!

Very cool! Just experienced this myself, definitely seemed to address the issues. Thank you sir!
Funny enough, I’m working on a project with Boolean, and what solved the issue for me was changing the motion blur settings to “start of frame.” It might have only fixed it in this specific file, but perhaps it works universally.

Nice! I thought it was a weight map issue like some unassigned vertex because I altered the Mixamo weights. Only one object was glitching, with no modifiers or FX on it, but turning off Deformation in the object MB panel worked for me. Thanks man!

So how about the camera? When I switch to other scenes and also no movements between two frames, but it’s still glitching
@BoroCG Жыл бұрын
Hey, are you using the same camera to switch shots? Like quickly repositioning the camera between two frames? Because that would cause a massive motion blur glitch in that one frame. If that's the case, I recommend using multiple cameras with *camera markers* in Blender, look it up it's awesome

@ihorkarpiuk41029 ай бұрын
The best way I found, that is not mentioned in the video is to make the sharp edges (you could do it by hand or click "Add custom split normals data"), then add split edges modifier and turn off the angle parameter. Ideally, place the modifier before any mesh transformation. DON'T FORGET TO TURN OFF AUTOSMOOTH!!! The problem is probably that autosmooth recalculates and splits the vertices on each frame based on mesh transformation. But the split has to be done BEFORE the transformation so that the indices don't get reassigned.
@sotomonte_ Жыл бұрын
Great video!! If you want deformations on your first example, you could probably have a duplicate of the geometry without the modifiers and transfer the velocity attribute from one to the other with geo nodes

I find rendering the animation without motionblur as image sequence and then rendering the frames in after effects or back through blender VFX produces nicer results with lower render times compared to with motion blur. Also you can get more customization out of your motion blurs in composition nodes. Maybe things have improved over the years but I've always had issues with how the motion blur looks inside blender.
@BoroCG Жыл бұрын
I find real 3D motion blur way better than any post-processing alternative. Depending on the situation, the difference can vary between mild and huge
@sagresnaw Жыл бұрын
@@BoroCG I'll have to play with blenders motion blur again, back in 2016 it was very underwhelming and I've never tried it since.
@markymrak Жыл бұрын
Thank you. But what to do if we are using armature modifier, which is in fact deforming mesh, and is probably most common scenario? Then switching off Deformation in Object's MB options will kill needed Motion Blur.
@BoroCG Жыл бұрын
With armature, if you have to keep deform blur - check if there's either anything else that changes the topology, like modifiers, or if there's something affecting the normals of the mesh dynamically

Is it possible this can now be fixed in 4.1 by using the Shade Smooth by Angle option instead of the Auto Smooth modifier? I’m curious if they produce the same results shading wise and if a mesh that previous used Auto Smooth can be converted to Shade Smooth by Angle with no adverse shading issues.

Thanks for this, it is really helpful! Do you know if it is possible to create subframe motion blur in cycles? I need curved motion blur trails for snow particles
@mikesnapper9001 Жыл бұрын
I just stopped using motion blur and replaced it with vector blur. It's true that it's not as good as the regular motion blur, but the differences were so small it doesn't matter to me. I was just done having to constantly debug the motion blur issue hunting down which object needs modifiers adjusted, which one should have blur disabled, which one needs smooth normals disabled.. nope.. screw that, vector blur all the way baby.
@tiagotiagot Жыл бұрын
What if instead of rendering the original object, you have a higher-poly object you shrink-wrap around the object that has changing topology, and you keep the original object invisible?
@BoroCG Жыл бұрын
Haha that's kinda cool, but I gotta say updating decimate every frame is already pretty slow. Shrinkwrapping a very high-res mesh on it would be a slideshow. Doable though!

You could try using weighted normal modifier combined with Auto Smooth.
@BoroCG Жыл бұрын
First got happy about this, but then noticed I had deformation blur off. When it's on, weighted normal modifier still shows glitches, sadly
@MOMO-ji5eg Жыл бұрын
it also happens to my alembic hairs and I report this glitch their solution is set auto smooth to 180
@R0w4nH0pk1ns Жыл бұрын
counter to your point about not using auto smooth; Bevel + weighted normals modifiers make everything better and weighted normals needs autosmooth
