What impresses me most of that you start with an amazing clean tone and they all sound really good, just different flavors. The Green Russian has lower gain transistors, hence the smoother, darker sound.

I have the Ram's Head reissue.. It's great. I don't know of any pedal you can find for $100 or less that holds as much value as these Big Muff reissues. Get a good OD pedal and put it before your fuzz.. Can make all kinds of great sounds. Part of my rig has a Chase Bliss Audio Brothers OD/fuzz/boost (multi-drive) pedal going into a Big Muff Ram's Head reissue, and then right after that is an Empress ParaEQ pedal... So many possible sound combinations.

Great video, captures a true shoot out. As always the triangle never disappoints, the Rams was very good too, especially for 90's stuff but I was surprised at the Big Muff Pi Nano (white pedal).

i'd take green russian any day. so quiet, amazing low-end, amazing with a compression and a boost stack (low gain od). then, ram's head is amazing to use on it's own...

On a pedalboard, this could be a stand-alone section, in order to get all the flavours of the muff, choice is too hard between all of them :)

JHS has the “Muffuletta” pedal that replicates them all. Could have all the muffs in one box if you want. If you are into JHS pedals that is- not everyone’s bag for sure

For David Gilmour, IMO, Rams Head Best because it has the tightest low end. Very similar to Triangle in much of the range, but Triangle has distinctly more compressed, wooly bass.

bingo! They really can sound all alike. The REALITY is that your guitar is gonna get mixed in with other instruments/parts and a lot of EQ on the mixing board is going to be applied. This "listened to compressed youtube audio" argument just simulates what happens in the REAL WORLD, regardless of the "reality" you choose.

I got a Big Muffin for HS graduation in 1972…. It wasn’t buzzy, it made tones that sounded more like “koooooo-kooo”, we called it a “bloopy” sound! The new one ls just go… zzzzzzzz-zzzzzzz

Cool demo! I have the ehx little big muff and the green russian. The green is great for stoner, lot of bass, huge, heavy fuzz. My next ehx the op amp and the ram's head fuzz!

Rams and triangle seem really similar and are my favorite. Russian is too bassy, OP amp sounds really solid and the nano just seems lackluster in comparison here. All of these issues can be tweaked with an EQ pedal though....

The Ram sounds beefier than the Triangle but not as much as the Green Russian. I tried them all at the store and I choose the Ram. Works well with a lot of kinds of music styles.

Hi everybody, i have all those reissue and the large muff nyc reissue, i have to say that they sound good everyone of them, but i have my preferences. Here ny favorites: ex equi are the triangle and the russian, the triangle is great for fat leads and soloing with a strat, for chord the russian is better the russian too but not as dark ad the triangle. There somehing annoying in the russian and think its due for the use of smd resistors, there a grittyness that annoying when you use it for solo, its not present with the triangle and the ny « big » big muff. The white has that « grittiness » that the russian have but in different frequencies. The op amp is cool but could be better, its still nice for modern fuzz sound. The rams doesnt have the fattness of the other muff still try to think if i like it or not. I also have the wren and cuff tall font russian that doesnt have the bass thats cool in the russian reissue. Hope thats help, by the way il try to build a clone on the russian with carbon film resistor using the value of the reissue if its solve the problem. Ill come back for more info if its interesting for someone . Have a nice day!

Great demo! I have the Green Russian and i thought until now that it's the best reissue. But the Ram's head sounded great too. I should try that! The op-amp seems really good for Pumpkins sounds if that's what you're after.

Was very happy with my 1977 muff , head room balance all good . Sold it ebay thinking could purchase another . Nope ! The new Green Russian works well in any tube amp .
