As I was buying assorted deli meats , cheeses , buns and salads for my family to make for themselves for dinner on Mother’s Day - the teenage guy serving me when I mentioned what I was doing said to me- how do you ask your mom what she wants for Mother’s Day without directly asking and I said Moms want the dishes done , the house tidied up, the laundry folded , your room cleaned etc . Moms are thrilled if you do chores without being asked / bring her a favourite snack - volunteer to do stuff she would normally do without being asked to them . He was very grateful for the advice! I know your pediatrician did not say they were concerned about Zade's speech, but as a developmental specialist, there are some articulation and expressive communication concerns for his age! We always hear from parents about how they would have come to us sooner but their pediatrician said everything was OK - early intervention is key and it would be much easier for Zade to get intervention now while his brain is still in early development! Please reach out to your local Early Intervention program or a speech therapist through your insurance for additional information

Children’s museums are incredibly fun and help get energy out. One of the most fun places that we took our kids. Make a goal to get to every park within a certain distance from where you live. Also The Science Centre is awesome too.

I've always said it takes 9 months to bake the baby, give your body 9 months to recover at least. I went through 5+ years not knowing what was wrong with me. I was 'diagnosed' with possible MS. They couldn't rule it out as the symptoms had just hit me, 4 days before my MRI. No plaque was seen on the images, but it might have been too soon. Throughout all those years I went to 6 different neurologists with them all saying "I believe it is from stress." Well finally I went to another doctor, prior to my appointment he requested another MRI. When I went to my appointment he said "My thoughts were MS. There is no plaque, so I started going through other options of what is going on. Are you having any symptoms right now?" I explained that the worst was receding now, with the onset a week ago. So he tested several muscular and nerve tests and finally said I believe I know what is going on. Your tests have knocked off several things, so, because of the lack of positive tests I believe you are having Non-pain Migraines. So I took the list of known migraine producers and slowly going through the list... Almonds were the worst triggers. Other nuts were triggers also. During those 5 years of not knowing.. I gave it to God. He finally answered the issue. It's in his time. All my other illnesses I at least know, just being so disabled that several days a week I'm in bed, needing paper panties to get through the pain and physical immobility. I have to just give it to God repeatedly as needed. I wish & pray for you and your medical team.

Check at your local library also, ours has story time with crafts that is age appropriate two different days a week. Barnes and Noble sometimes has story hour and crafts on Saturday morning. Those activities are always free too.

Children’s museums are the best. Most good sized cities have them. Kids LOVE the pretend grocery store. The kitchen. The bubbles and mirrors. I know the St Paul MN Children’s Museum is glorious and they learn as they’re having fun and meeting other kiddos.

It made me sad at the end when Carlin was trying to explain what she wanted (really needed) for Mother’s Day and Evan interrupted stating he feels a good Mother’s Day is going out to a restaurant and going out in public. Kinda seemed like he wasn’t truly listening to what she enjoys and was dismissive. Some moms on Mother’s Day just want a lazy bed day, to not have to wake up early, not have to put on make up or have to get dressed for the day. Many just want breakfast in bed and go to Church. Mothers I know want a peaceful, uncomplicated day free from the chaos of loud kids (even though we love them it’s nice to have a break) , a break from chores, messy home, errands. And no pile up of the days mess just to be added to the next day for her to do. Just one day all to herself. If that means a frozen pizza, Netflix, bubble bath, break from caring for littles, not feeling obligated to cater to others… that should be accepted and respected not shoved aside and judged. Every woman/ mother is different and definition of what makes a great Mother’s Day varies. Perhaps more people should ask Mom what she wants and what would make her happy on Mother’s Day… but some things are always a good gift like someone else handling all the chores she normally does. Moms are a blessing. It’s my personal opinion more children should be taught how to be more thoughtful and serve Mom for a change. I have a life threatening illness, currently on palliative care about to transition to hospice. One thing I’ve come to realize now that my life journey is coming to an end, is how important valuing the Mothers in our life truly is. Mothers are a vital and necessary roll that is often under appreciated and a thankless. It’s important to remember to honor the Mothers in our life.

I think a lot depends on your season of life. When you have small children you are tossed and want both time with the family AND time for self care and self love. I always sleep in an extra hour and then was presented with breakfast in bed joined by the family, then church and afterwards the afternoon to myself to read a book, go for a massage etc, and then finish up with and early dinner with the grandmothers (out or prepped by my husband) and then back to mom duties of baths, backpacks and week day prep. We need time to relax and enjoy ourselves and find some autonomy in order to better love and participate with our families.

If you ever go to Raleigh then make sure take kids to marble museum oh my gosh, it’s an absolute blast!! Plus the natural history museum just couple blocks down. All museums are free too. But at the natural history they have skeletal of big blue whales, megalodon shark jaw and teeth and butterfly area and so much more. They would love it!!!

Layla and Zade are the cutest but Zade is talking and running ❤️❤️ Mental health is just as important as anything else but in our generation no one ever spoke of mental health 😞 when I was 32 yrs old and hubby was 33 yrs old we had a 6 yr old daughter and a 7 yr old son when he was diagnosed with cancer osteosarcoma and I can’t describe what he went through but us as parents we were tested but after spending TIME in the hospital and seeing so many kids with cancer I’m surprised I did not have a nervous breakdown 😩 it was tough 💔 Sorry Evan I’m with Carlin stay home and watch a movie 🍿 THE BEST ❤️
