to me this just looks like an implementation of Shamir's secret sharing, it's heavily used in cloud vaults. interesting concept for crypto.

He kind of did, what I found out is bittrex set it up to where algorand and other tokens runs like a security on bittrex, but does not run like one on other exchanges. Read the lawsuit SEC had against bittrex. This caused an artificial pump then dump.

If they find out who each other is, could 50% conspire to steal your assets? So for example, if you only give it to family members, they could talk and figure out that they are the ones who have the fragments of the key and get together to take your assets. Not that your family would do that... LOL this is just a hypothetical to maybe show that you must pick a diverse set of trustees who would not likely know each other.
