Jenna, thank you so much for sharing this! I've been a subscriber of yours for so many years and you've impacted my watercolor work in SO many ways from learning how to create abstract florals to starting my own youtube channel. It's funny because we are both so similar, I have written songs growing up, love to sing, and also have one child and we are making a book together too! Lol ours is about our cats though. But it's just really refreshing to see this video and pivots in your art and creative process which we all experience as artists! I can't wait to see this process as you show it and your continued growth!

I just found your channel. I watched some of your tuturials and then I saw this. I'm working on a children's book myself. I really like the idea and I really like the crow. It was fun to see Clemence different set of emotions, your child's versions where also super cute. I was curious to see how you would create the environment to your character. I think you should try to combine watercolor and color pencils. Maybe the tree can be mostly color pencils and the crow only watercolor, maybe frottage on the tree trunk? I look forward to seeing more of your process towards making this book. :)

Hi Jenna from a follower in U.K. & France. Thank you for taking us on your journey with Clarence and seeing you grow in this new aspect of your career. I will certainly be following you as you are developing, experimenting and learning too. A great new inspiring process which sounds doable and so enjoyable and great to be included at the start. I have invested in a couple of your courses as I am back to art work after 35 years! Not natural at all but so enjoying your classes. Just can’t resist those beautiful water colours. Starting is the hardest thing to do in everything like picking up the paint brush or the water colour pencil. Thank you and you enjoy this new venture. Lulu

Thanks for sharing. I have always wanted to do a children's book as well, but as you said that voice that is so strong that tells us we should be executing it in one big go is so debilitating. Funny enough, pencil drawing is one of my favorite things so you are inspiring me to get some thumbnail sketches down and see where it leads. Much love for your own journey, I will be checking in on how it's going and allow you to continue to inspire me. 💞

This is great Jenna! I’ve been working on a children book this past year. I wrote the story and then had a brilliant idea to do all of the art in watercolour … it is taking me longer than I expected I love my ideas, it’s just getting it all down on paper and refined. I have followed a similar process to you so far. I have written the story and I’ve been sketching lots of different scenes and elements for each page. I’ve done a lot of research on my characters and what style I’d like to aim for. I look forward to watching your videos - hopefully they will encourage me to stay motivated and to keep going. Thank you for sharing your work.

❤❤❤. Thank you for sharing your journey. Your character looks like the "Mr. Men" series. Just be carful with copyright issues. I hope that you are successful woth the book, but more important both your son and your healing journey "Whimsicality" is now an official word 😂. I would go back to a box with eyes because this speaks to me intuitively. Your son was spot on, like most children 🤔 . I would leave the ctow in watercolor, but the rst would probably be in colored pensils.

@@JennaRaineyChannel I just finished watching this wonderful video! I am excited and the crow looks amazing! I love crows. To learn more about crows, I suggest you taking a look into Mark Robber's latest video featuring the intelligence of crows. Also, reading about that crow that befriended a girl and continuously gave her gifts, would be very interesting for you. Also, maybe featuring an albino crow would be very fun!

How about watercolor pencils? Easy to take for sketching and add water later. Also, salt. cold be used in water phase. Right? I’ve just purchased some nice watercolor pencils and I’m in awe of how I can shade and modify the basic colors. Also., my grandson needs help with speech.
