Colored pencil and gouache for the tree is super interesting I like that idea! I feel like the contrasting colors are nice 👍🏽 I feel you on social media totally agree breaks are so necessary!

I love the lines of the penciled tree, over the top of watercolor. Option 4 :D

I love the contrast of the watercolor and colored pencil-It is so whimsy. Regardless, you will do awesome and I will be buying a copy for my daughter 😊

I prefer a mostly watercolour tree but there is room for some watercolour pencil which might blend more easily without losing definition. I love the browny orange with blue leaves.

Number 4! IMO Watercolour ties all the elements of the story together (aaand it’s your thing) and the pencil enhances the texture of the tree leaves and adds detail. ❤Wanted to encourage you in your homeschooling journey as well. Good for you guys. I homeschool 6 kids and yes, it can be very busy but fun and so so worth it.

I think number 4,water color and colored pencil . What ever you choose it would the best, love

Pencil vs watercolor depends on the vibe & message of each element. Main character vs supporting element? Pencil adds structure and definition while watercolor adds fluidity and expansion. Love that youre investing time into these meaningful detail!

I like option 4 - I think it will blend better with both characters. I love the brighter colours of the tree as Clarence is muted and the crow is black. I’m enjoying these videos. Thank you for sharing your process.

Jenna, your process is soooo fun! Thank you for sharing and I love your crow. Also love that you are homeschooling! All of this makes my heart happy. We used to live near the back Bay Area in So Cal so that is also fun for me to envision you in your process and beautiful studio! Merry Christmas and a blessed and prosperous New Year to you all!

So many good choices, but the direction you are going is amazing. I like the vivid colors of the tree with the blue and the orange..I am sure whatever you decide it will be wonderful. Thank you again for sharing your process.

I think the choice on whether to use watercolor or colored pencil is dependent on the mood you want to create and the emotions you want to elicit. I’d like to see the tree done in colored pencil with the leaves/foliage being done in watercolor.

I prefer the look of blue and orange watercolor tree. I like the idea of adding some line work with pencil or ink to tie in with the other characters. Side note: I love that there is a crow character and can't wait to see more! 🖤

I prefer muted, but if it's a children's book, my children usually go for the colorful and contrasting vibes. More stimulating and exciting for them to look at.

Jenna, but when I clean, sometimes I cannot find something that was just there or here, but now it's filed ... somewhere. Keyword is "somewhere" and I no longer know "here" or "there."! I love experiencing your journey. Wonderful. Oh, I like Crow with longer tail. Crow does look magical. The tree... the colored pencil tree looks great, but so does the watercolor one. Hmmm...

Number 4! I love the contrasting colors and the different textures you can get with each medium. I don't know the story obvs but you could use a different combination of mediums to illustrate the tree's different emotions- if she has any! I can’t wait to see this unfold. ❤️

It's all so cute! I prefer the trunk in watercolor in orange or muted but the leaves look amazing in watercolor/colored pencil. Sorry. I couldn't pick one of the numbers. And I absolutely love the crow in watercolor/salt.

I think 4, a little mix of both. Also on wondering about your tree coloring. Maybe they could be muted a little like Clarence but, in the end they’ve brightened. Like how you said it’s gonna say “feelings can fly.” So, as you get closer to the end things have brightened if I’m making sense. Just an idea from what you’ve told us so far about your book.
