Take a look at Upper Twin Lakes or the Dinky Lakes Wilderness, both east of Fresno and both excellent places to go.

I’ve done Upper twin lake before actually a couple times. Heard good things about dinky too but never done it. How soon in the spring is it good to do?

Hello, thanks for this video. I’ll be doing a solo backpacking trip to Big Pines Lakes as well, my group who is suppose to go with me cancelled the last minute and I’m really nervous. have backpacked before so this not going to be my first backpacking experience. Any suggestions or tips I can give is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hey Janelle, the biggest tip is just do your research. Know the route, have a map, have safe practices. The hike there isn’t terrible but it is all uphill. This time of year the first mike will be hot as hell. You’ll get intermittent shade after that. Have a great time and be safe.

Thanks for the video! We are backpacking end of October over there. Do you think there will be bears? And how cold it will be?
@wildsage5 жыл бұрын
I’ve never seen bears there. That’s not to say there aren’t any though. If you store and stow your food properly you shouldn’t have anything to worry about. That’s all they want is your food As far as temps go, I’d say expect cold temps but that time of year is always a little unpredictable. This was the first week of November and the days were nice and the nights were cold.

I’ve paid my fair share of visits to that McDonald’s and I’ve got no shame about that.

Hi is getting a permit for the north fork trail in person the only option?
@wildsage4 жыл бұрын
I’m not 100% sure but I think it depends on time of year. I think sprint and summer require advanced permits and once you get into fall it’s a walk in thing. But don’t quote me on that.

@@wildsage awesome, thank you! I'm looking into a day hike somewhere in the Eastern Sierra for a special occasion mid-October and this might be it.

It’s a gorgeous hike even if you just get to second lake. If you want something easier, convict lake up by mammoth is an easy loop.

@@wildsage "Never wear boots"... until you roll your ankle, then you will always wear boots lol... especially on such a long hike with the potential for having to deal with a rolled ankle!
