Great build. I would lower it to be able to sit upright without bending over but other than that, it would be perfect for me.

Been thinking about you and Kopek a lot lately as my dog Dingo is undergoing surgery Tuesday to remove three fatty tumors from her chest. She’s eight and there are risks but I’m hoping she’s pulls through and it buys us more time together. I hope you and Cat are doing well and have been having many wonderful adventures…

This might be a silly question.... but with this mod still work if the back is locked? I'd like to be able to keep the back locked for safety purposes but I'd also like to be able to get out from the inside for safety purposes
@wildsage2 ай бұрын
Im pretty sure if you’ve locked the doors this won’t work. I always kept my keys and key fob near me when I slept inside. So I could just unlock it with that or slide up and press the button at the drivers seat.

As an Element owner, also 2006, who camps, don’t we all constantly try to improve??😂😂😂😂 I once reorganized it during a trip……. When I added an SUV Tent, I fell in love with my Element all over again. Getting ready to reconfigure for 2024 season.

I'm getting ready to do this mod this weekend. My only concern is the pull ring thumping against the hatch while driving. Have you noticed any noise from the ring since you did this mod?
@wildsage10 ай бұрын
I was a little worried about it but it didn’t really happen for me. I only got to use it for a few months before my element was totaled though. But if you are concerned you could use something softer as the handle.
I like seeing what can be done with an Element. Nice work!

Very nice. I like your thinking of keeping it as roomy and light as possible. The easier it is to build and maintain the better and it works. The more complicated something is the more things to go wrong and harder to repair.

Thanks! Just bought a beautiful, in mint condition, Galapagos Green Metallic 2004 Honda Element EX last month and this is one thing I really wanted to do. Right before your video here I saw someone offering a kit to do this for $79. According to my calculations $12 is less expensive than $79. Plus your design looks nicer. :)

I agree with @mortiz9004, this (as are all of your vids) sooooo good at explaining and showing the details of how to Definitely like the pulley idea. I don't know if others did this in their vids or if they just mentioned it. But you did a great job explaining how to get that to work. But 8' of braided cable seems excessive. I have yet to do this, so maybe my thoughts about the Element conversion is way off. I might need to buy 10', knowing my lack of any ability to work with my hands. Thank you for the vid!
@wildsage Жыл бұрын
Yeah I made this one because I watched a ton of videos to figure out how to install this thing. None of them had all the details for what I felt like I needed to know. So I thought I’d try to make one fully comprehensive video. You’re probably right that 8’ of cable was excessive but I figured it was better to overbuy in case I messed up. I think I really only needed like two feet 😂

Please the average cost to build or add all that you’ve showing us. Not including the van cost.
@wildsage Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure of the total cost to be honest. I did help a little bit with the carpentry but I wasn’t privy to the price of everything. I will say this was built before the pandemic and prices have gone up considerably on lots of materials.

How do you insure a van like this ? as it’s originally commercial van. Plus all the value you have added, is it going to be insured as an adventure van?

So how did the interior design work for you? Was hoping for some feedback after the trip as that seemed to be the premise at the beginning.
@wildsage10 ай бұрын
Yeah I failed to answer that I guess. It worked out ok. I did live in this setup for quite a while so it worked well enough for me to do that. But it evolved over time too as my needs changed.

I saw the V3 build, but for me this V2 build is better suited to my needs. I so appreciate your videos, so helpful thank you!
@wildsage Жыл бұрын
This is actually V3 and then V4 was the platform with shelves on both sides. V1 was ages ago and was basically a bed with storage underneath. V2 and V3 were very similar in layout with some minor tweaks for ease of use.
