Hello. I have macan s with 127k miles that leaks from the rear main seal. If you let the engine idle for 1-2 hrs there is no oil coming out of the seal but if you drive it hard ( or do just 2-3 lunch control starts) and it’s literally leaking oil out of there. I checked both PCV valves and one of them was not sealing properly ( if I blew air from the intake side it was slowly passing thru the crankcase ) Washed it with brake fluid and it started sewing properly did a test run after that but it still leaks if I floor it or drive it hard. 😔 ( seems like the oil is being sucked in at idle / low loads due to the massive vacuum in the crankcase but under boost when there is no vacuum there it leaks ) Can you please give me advice if there is something else to look for and how common is to have the crankshaft sagging 🤯

Tools look VERY EXPENSIVE!! This is why everyone doing work on cars should have a low cost lathe and milling machine, then you can make tools like these, a simple lathe turning would have worked as a crank sag gauge, and seal installer (put a 3mm deep lip on it ) ... just rap it in slowly and evenly with a rubber mallet.

Nope, this would be acceptable maybe for an old domestic or asian vehicle RMS. You can not tap in PTFE RMS seal correct as it will distort and result in a very nasty oil leak later or worse case pop right out at high engine load. The result would be complete loss of engine oil and engine damage, never worth that risk. The PTFE RMS must be installed dry and requires lots of even force due to the tight tolerance of the seal and must not be touched by bare human hands without gloves due to the dry coating on the seal that will make leak from any oil present. This is all stated in the Porsche repair manual. We have repaired a few RMS seals that were installed without the proper tool that have always leaked. Anything else is just hack work without the use of an RMS special installation tool.

@@TopAutomotiveInc Yup, ask me how I know you can't touch it or tap it in. 🤣 Oh, and I laughed SO HARD at the impact wrench, great video!
