I watched te Woo Sox on the off day. Finally got to see Grissom when he had it together at the plate and it was encouraging. Casas did look like he might need a couple of weeks. Now, if Grissom comes back close to the level of performance he had in Atlanta and Casas is just Casas that would be like having a blockbuster trade. If the bullpen gets back on track and Houck, Bello and Kutter can all hold steady this team can should be feared. Can't wait to see them at full steam.

Near term I think the most impactful return from injury is Martin. Can never have enough high leverage relievers. On the position side I want Grissom to stay in AAA, but not necessarily until next year. I want him to get to a point where he is fully healthy, and absolutely raking at AAA… then look to bring him up… With Casas do not rush him. Smith is holding the fort. Casas needs time to get healthy and get his timing and baseball legs working. The rest come when they are ready.

Matin and Hendrix if fully healthy will bring a necessary boost to the 7 and 8 inning. In the interim Bernardino and Garcia seem to be the specialist in that role for a batter Po that we saw against Texas p.. it seems funny that the position the Red Sox are deepest in is there worst defensively.

These next nineteen games against the Rangers, Royals, Astros and Orioles will likely be the make or break difference if the Red Sox remain in the hunt for a wildcard playoff berth ... Casas, Grissom, Martin, Slaten, Hendricks and Kenley Jansen can't come back soon enough ... Craig Breslow acquiring James Paxton, Luis Garcia, Lucas Sims, and Danny Jansen may be the deciding factor in the team getting positively through this tough stretch of their schedule ...

Just gotta say, Jose Iglesias, who last seen in Fenway hit .356, is hitting .331 for the Mets, after 1 1/2 years relegated to the minors. Who exactly did he P. off in Boston? He's always hit here. Could've been a solid IF solution for the past 2 years. Even if he's not a human highlight reel anymore, he's still solid, flexible and hits. And wouldn't have had to trade Sale to get him.

I think what contributes to my dispondance is a renewed transparency from the organization. Which is good. But the downside to that would be getting so many" soft updates" especially on Casas. So that much requires an adjustment. I feel like the red sox generally just say a lot of things as opposed to a less is more principle.

The Vaughn Grissom situation is interesting because it can go several different ways. Is Chris Martin somewhat expendable at this point? Who would he be an upgrade over currently in their bullpen? Henricks and Slaten offer more upside.

Hamstring injuries are hard to return from, I'd say if Sogard gets playing time in Boston and produces, keep Grissom in Worcester and let him heal! Grissom is supposed to be a future piece, let's keep him in Worcester and worry about next season. As for Casas, pain management is fine and dandy, but it causes you to compensate, so if Casas is still having pain, WAIT a few weeks and make sure he's healthy. Don't rush a future star just to get him on the field. Dom Smith can hold the spot till Casas is ready. Hendrix and Martin should be coming soon, Staten may be best to wait to hopefully avoid Tommy John surgery. Honestly if Sims and Garcia pitch well, don't rush any of these guys.....great injury break down Corbin
@redseatradio2 ай бұрын
I don’t really think the pain is at the point of him having to over compensate elsewhere. I think he, the medical staff, and the team have been really careful about his return and to me that’s a big reason why I think they are confident he is good enough to play again
