We caught up with ex Aston Villa manager Ron Atkinson and former winger Tony Daley this week to ask them of their memories of the 1994 League Cup Final victory for Aston Villa over Manchester United.

Tony Daley, what a guy! I'll never forget how happy I was when he handed me a "most improved player" medal for my age group at a Villa football camp back in the early 90s.

My era! I was 11 when we went to Wembley. Tranmere at home was the best game I've ever been to and I went every week back then. Just great memories. 1991-2005.

A tactical masterclass by Ron Atkinson. Villa hadn't really played 4-5-1 so starting with that formation with Graham Fenton starting no one saw that coming, especially United. My only regret was Dwight Yorke didn't get on the pitch that day.

People are wrongly drawing comparisons of us as underdogs then and now. Back in '94 we were out of form but were an established PL side loaded with experience and talent. We were runners up the season before ffs! The gulf in class this time is massive, and our form is appalling. Miracles can happen but a fighting defeat rather than an outright embarrassing walloping (like 2015) is the best we can hope for.

In the 1992-93 season, a lot of people wanted big Ron to win the title away from Man Utd. I recall the Man City fans then wanted their team to lose to Villa so that Villa can gain more point to overcome Utd. ...........Sadly it wasn't to be!
