I must say in all of the whelk shells I have found here down south I have never found an actual whelk in their own shell. The whelks are amazingly beautiful! Love this video!!!

You should carry a small plastic tub, from Dallar tree, to put your delicate shells into and to transfer home. Like a Tupperware or box.

Hi Roxie! It's tough because I have my recording gear and my bag. When I start filling up my bag, it's starts getting heavy. Soooo - the more stuff I bring, the more stuff I have to lug back to the car.

Lightening whelks open from the left side. Juvenile whelks look very similar to lightenings. 😊

Scallops are some of my favorite shells. I have never seen so many in one place. I love the simplicity and the variety of colors they come in. Those welks are huge. If they are live in that water I'm sure are times there has to be times when empty ones wash up on the beach. The orange scallop is such a great find. 🌻🐕🥰

Just a tip of mineral / paraffin oil will bring out the colours beautifully. I have no objection to a dull, rustic colour pattern either. at 22:50 rusty. that's a good word.

That's a valid question Helga. I try to bring as little as possible. I have my recording gear and my bag. Once I start collecting shells, things get a bit heavy and it's a long walk back to the car.

Why do you pick up live shells when you know they are live? This upsets their positioning in the seabed.
