Big Shot Switch Plus Electric Die Cutting Machine first impressions

I’ve had mine for 3 days. So far, I just love it. I think it will replace all the machines I have. The Gemini jr because it cuts intricate dies great but hate the plates, the big shot because it cuts the steel ruled dies and can fit the heartfelt creations molds, and I have an old Theresa Collins’s bosser because it fits 8 1/2 by 11. Now I have all in one machine. I have been waiting for mine for over 2 years. And I can use my sizzix magnetic plate, my precision plate, and all other sizzix plates. This is a dream come true.

Make sure you register for the extended warranty. Some folks are buying this and the Machine won't turn on. I didn't have this problem but can never be too safe on something that cost this much.

Great demonstration for the new Sizzix machine Marilyn! I have the Sizzix Vagabond and I just love it! I got it new for $130 from Amazon two years ago. I like using the Sizzix foam mat and rolling tool to remove all the extra pieces from intricate dies. I love that both machines cut material and felt really nicely. Have fun playing with your new purchase.

Nice find & demo. Have this on my wish list on Amazon (when it becomes available). I know HL carries a peachy pink, but I wanted it in white, black, or pink. I'll just keep using my old Craftwell Cut n Boss until then. Thanks for the info!

Have fun with ur new toy. I’ll probably get the Switch when I’m ready to replace my Bigshot. I think this will be easier on my hands which tend to hurt after a big project. Tfs.

Hi Marylin, thanks for the review, I have been reading about this machine and been think about it , I do have a Gemini, a manual big shot and the Tim Holtz electric one for the bigz dies . The Tim Holtz it’s so heavy and big and the big shot hurts my hand to crank it , I like that this one is small and takes the bigz dies . I just have to be able to justify getting another machine but I will probably be able to do that and buy one eventually 😂 TFS ❤️ & ✌️

I don't know that it's necessarily smaller than the tum holtz machine. It has a wider opening, so takes larger dies.

I am still using my old Sizzix crank machine for regular dies. I wasn’t a fan of the Gemini. It just warps the plates so much. I may wait for a white one…

Thanks for doing this review! I have been researching different electric machines and was wondering what this one was like. What about an extended plate? Like for rosettes. Would you need an extended plate or is the one that comes with long enough? Thanks Marilyn!

I guess that depends on how long your die is. To give you an idea it's approximate A4 in size. That means it's a little longer, maybe quarter inch, and quarter inch narrower than our standard copy paper. It was built so that other sizzix platforms could be used with it, but I don't think it's needed. The sizzix long plastic thin dies will probably fit on this platform that came with the machine.

Oh no! What the heck! I know sizzix will refund you. That is such a mess. I don't know why HL won't do the refund, you just bought it! Makes no sense. I just spent 3 hours crafting and die cutting using this machine, no issues.

In the demo, they said any size base plate and any size plates work. Of their brand of course. If you reverse it, I wonder if it would remove the cuts better on felt? I do that when hand cranking.

It probably would. However sometimes it double cuts if the felt shifts. I do this also with the manual fiskars fuse I use. I'm just fine to have to try it out.

Yes, I use it almost exclusively. I only use a manual one when I am doing partial die cutting.
