Thumper chops are awesome! Each and every bike you featured was great, but three of them REALLY caught my eye. The Panther's engine is absolutely beautiful, the Matchless is, well...a Matchless! But the bike that screams "proper chopped thumper" like nothing else for me is the Snortin' Norton...wow, what a machine! Time to find myself a ratty ol' thumper to make into a sweet bar crawler...thanks for the inspiration!

Panthers were built to be used with sidecars, loads and loads of torque, due to large heavy flywheels, very necessary in the 50s and early 60s when no one could afford a car.

Panther i had one in 1969 70 loved it broke the crank lack of oil ( my b31 never used a lot )built one for o guy chooper what else in bsh yammie west cumbria yours is the best of the bunch is it still on the road

I don't know why you'd hack a Suzy LS650 about. They look great as original and this one is no improvement. The Bantam tank looks awful, and I hate those trumpet silencers.

To each his own, but there's a reason why production bikes have always been designed within a relatively narrow range of ergonomics, suspension, and steering geometry: it works. Going outside of that normal range means sacrificing safety, functionality and comfort for attention-seeking.

I "got it" the day my cousin and I were standing in the shop at a motorcycle dealership where we both worked when another of the mechanics rode by on his Harley a block away. It was LOUD and I said something about why anyone needed to ride something like that. My cousin dead-panned a four-word answer: "Got you to look."
