So, each party member has a unique conversation on the airship that can only be seen if you brought them to the final battle of last chapter. Since you brought Agate and Kloe, I've included below a transcript of the remaining ones (thanks to Shy Monkeys for collecting these for me) First Tita's, Estelle: Oh, yeah, Tita, I was wondering. Did you dream at all when we were put to sleep? Tita: Yeah, I did! It was a dream where Mom and Dad came home. And Mom and Grandpa got into a loving fistfight for the first time in forever... Estelle: Um, I... I seeeee... That still sounds like a really nice dream. Tita: Heehee... Yeah. You showed up, of course, Estelle. Estelle: Wait, I did? Tita: Uh-huh! After Mom and Dad came home... You and Joshua and Agate all came by to visit! Then Grandpa suggested we all take a trip to the hot springs in Elmo! Estelle: Haha! That really does sound like a fun dream. And now we've got to make that dream come true. Second, Zin's, Estelle: Oh, that reminds me. Zin, you were put to sleepwith the rest of us. Did you see a dream of some sort when that happened? Zin: Mmm, yes. It was a dream of my days at the dojo. Made me realize that Kilika hasn't changed much over the years, to start with. Even in the dream, I had to laugh at that. Estelle: Huh! So Kilika's always been... um, like that? Zin: Yes, 'like that' is a good way to put it. I always thought it was unbelievable that she and Walter, of all people, had gotten toge-- Estelle: Wha?! Zin: ...That was a slip of the mouth. Sorry, but forget that. Please. Estelle: Y-Yeah, sure. Lastly, Olivier's, Estelle: Oh, yeah. Olivier, you were put to sleep there, too. Did you dream like I did? Olivier: Ah... I suppose I did. Yes... I... Estelle: Huh? Is something wrong, Olivier? Olivier: Well, I was simply thinking that it was a shame. For you see, in my dreams I was in the company of peerless, beautiful maidens! Betwixt shapes verily blessed by Aidios! If you had not awoken me, Estelle, I could have done this and that and... Perhaps fate has willfully stirred me at your arrival. Well? Would you care to discover that which can only be conceived in dreams? Estelle: Remember what I said about my stick? I can always put you to sleep with it. Forever. Oliver: Err no, no, I'm sorry! Estelle: For the love of... (Still... Olivier's eyes were so... sad for a moment....What did he dream of...?) Olivier: Ah... You needn't make such a face, my sweet. Estelle: Huh? Olivier: In truth, it was nothing special. Simply a memory of my boyhood. Dear Mueller showed up in it, for example. Estelle: I see... Then why the heck couldn't you just mention that from the start, you perv? Olivier: Now, now! Anger unbecomes you, Lady Estelle. So yeah, as you can see, some interesting stuff in these easily missable dialouges.

Interesting point, In FC, when Dunan reveals plans for Princess Klaudia's arranged marriage. Joshua's response is to say that "unless we've severely regressed, it's much too early for marriage", but here we Felicity, in a meeting for an arranged marriage. When I first saw this I thought it was a neat display of the /cultural/ differences between Liberl and Erebonia, as well as Joshua's commentary on the matter.

Some of the fans I think overhyped Anton, but understandably so. He is kind of the personification of one of the main aspects that make the Trails series great. Anton is almost completely unimportant to the plot or any key aspect of the series. But he still has a complete arc, personality, and full storylines as a way of showing that every character in this series is more than just an average NPC. Every character matters to this series. And while the writing team can't always show that for everyone (even though they try), it's personified within Anton. So the fandom LOVES Anton. Cuz he is just a dude. A real dude. In a videogame. I am 8 games later in the series, and I still love Anton and wonder what he is up to. And that is amazing.

To simplify it, the reason trails fans love Anton so much is that his quest, dialogue, development, story, and character arc is way better and more complete than the actual protagonists of most other video games. I can only think of a handful of games I've ever played that wrote such a complete story for protag-kun, and in trails, an NPC has a story arc that good. That's crazy.

So, fun thing in FC for Felicity and Reina is that they were always around each other and there were hints that Felicity was of some type of Erebonian noble lineage (at one point saying she didn't want to play the role of a commoner in the school play. Erebonia, as mentioned in Chapter 3, is much more hung up on social class being a big deal than Liberl) and that Reina was her underling. But specifically in their relationship you can see that Felicity was always a bit reluctant to finish tasks, and then Reina would use specific verbal language to egg her on to buckle down and do it all whenever she complained and seemed to be on the verge of quitting. You get the sense Reina's trying to make Felicity take her duties as a noble seriously using harsher words to encourage her, even if Felicity resents it. Although, there's a few times where, if you talk to Reina a second time, you do learn she secretly does *love* being a bit mean to her. Another cute thing is if you head to the guard post before starting the side quest, you can talk to Felicity, Estelle has a conversation with her, and when she asks why she's there she makes up the excuse that she's just studying the place for a holiday assignment. The only party member who'll notice something's off is Kloe, who mutters that she doesn't remember an assignment like that. And yes, there's special dialog when Reina hears Estelle saw her earlier, she's flabbergasted. And yeah, if you fail to convince Felicity to come with you, Agate forcefully drags her off under Article 2 of the Bracer code, and then the party has to intervene and convince the military to not shoot him when Felicity starts screaming she's being kidnapped.
@Erpy8019 күн бұрын

One thing I've found myself doing with the Trails games is working out a "patrol" of sorts--just a quick, efficient route around each town, to touch base with all the NPCs after each major event. It not only ensures that I won't miss any optional side quests, it also ensures that I can keep up with all the ongoing storylines that Falcom set up for these characters who you don't even have to talk to, most of the time. One thing about the Shining Poms and Dark Matter--ATS matters. A LOT. Estelle and especially Tita aren't going to do much of anything. The people you want casting are Olivier, Kloe, and Schera--they can generally get a kill in a few casts, particularly with Mind quartz boosting their stats. (Other arts can also do damage, as long they're Time, Space, or Mirage--the Shining Pom is only invulnerable to the other four elements--but Dark Matter generally has the best damage-to-EP ratio.)

The game series does something very well which i feel many other series botch, which is, with its slow burn, is that it shows you what could be lost if you fail to save the world so much better than any other game series. And its not just these little NPC stories, but also the slow day to day moments with the main characters. Estelle wants to get back joshua so bad, and we empathise with that because we say them hang out for a whole game. If joshua had left earlier to speed up the plot, the significance of his dissapearance would have been muted. The game is slow, extremely slow, and somewhat repetitive, but it never really feels purposeless, or that the writers want to waste your time asking you to farm random stuff. Its like the creators are making deal with us, its slow now, you're gonna have to put in some effort to keep at it, and in turn we will writer some of the best character interactions you will ever see in one of the most alive worlds you'll ever read. And when it all adds up together at the end you get an experience like no other game series you have ever played.

I think maybe the Dark Matter thing has to do with its suction effect instead. If you have a whole bunch of Shining Poms, you could use Dark Matter to group them all together in the center of the spell, then S-craft the entire lot of them at once. Or at least a handful of them.
@Erpy8019 күн бұрын
Nah, that's Dark Matter Ex. (which can't be used in SC) Dark Matter in this game is just a tier 1 elemental art that's only special due to it being the strongest tier 1 elemental art you get. (it has a higher base damage than Soul Blur, but also costs more) Because of its high base damage, it was a viable art to use against the Shining Poms in the prologue and Chapter 1 because its base damage was high enough to at least partially penetrate the poms' insane arts defense, it being an art meant the poms couldn't dodge it and time/space/mirage elemental affinity not being a thing in this game meant that unlike most other attack arts, the poms' complete elemental immunity was unable to negate it. Higher level poms' ADF and HP stats are simply too high for Dark matter to circumvent sufficiently, so the best way to get rid of higher level poms is still a buffed 200-CP fueled S-craft or spamming Death Scream (or Shadow Spear on a single pom) and hope the 20% Deathblow effect procs.

Relationships like the one between Felicity and Reina are something we'll see over and over again in Erebonia. Servants often aren't considered to be workers in the empire, servants are as much a part of the house as the full-blooded nobility and often have positions of immense influence. There are so many servants who are treated in a way completely indistinguishable from fathers, brothers, mothers, sisters, aunts, uncles and trusted best friends. There are so many powerful nobles who were, essentially, raised by the butler or the maid and therefore always look to that butler or maid as a parental figure. There are many servants who are so loyal to the house they serve that if the nobles are in any kind of trouble, their servants will do whatever is required to help, and that feeling goes both ways. You might wonder: why in the world did Felicity's house pay for Reina to also attend Jenis Royal Academy alongside Felicity? They could have just sent her there as Felicity's maid, they didn't need to also pay to enroll her in the academy. The bond between Felicity and Reina is so tight; you can see how much Felicity feels betrayed by Reina's action, and you can also see how much Reina cares about Felicity's best interest and what is best for her family. In an Erebonian noble house, it's not so much that they paid for Reina to attend Jenis alongside Felicity as a gesture of good will, rather it is that, in Erebonia, it never would have occurred to anyone to NOT pay for Reina to attend Jenis alongside Felicity.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious once you get to the arc (Cold steel arc spoilers) Sharon and Celestin immediately come to mind with their treatment for Alisa and Patrick with the same going the other way. The Vanders are also literally a noble house of servants to the Royal family, I noticed it with a few characters but in hindsight I never noticed it might be a cultural thing.
@SuperSupersoda18 күн бұрын
@@joaocbcneto It absolutely is a cultural thing. Spoilers below: When Marquis Hyrams and Count Egret get taken hostage as Bugbear hijacks an airliner and attempts to hold it for ransom, who mounts the rescue operation? Celestine (the butler to house Hyrams) and Setsuna (maid to house Egret and another Erebonian super-maid) are the ones who gather the intelligence, formulate a plan, request back-up from Class 7 and spearhead the rescue operation. If anything threatens house hyrams or house Egret, Celestine and Setsuna will deal with it and woe be to those who get between those two and their goals. Whose opinion does Jusis care more about: his own father, Duke Albarea or Arnold (think that's his name) the butler of the house? In Cold Steel 2, it's obvious Jusis cares more about what the butler thinks. It's really important to him that Arnold approve of the path Jusis has decided to take to go with his friends during the civil war. When Jusis asks Arnold to return the horses to the stable, Arnold immediately figures out what Jusis is really asking for: Arnold's blessing to go with his friends, which Arnold gives. The butler of house Arseid is also the second in command of the Arseid school and is the head of the school when the viscount is unavailable. He raised Laura and taught her most of what she knows about swordsmanship. She always defers to him not as a servant, but as a second father. Then there's Vincent and Ferris Florald, who have their maid with them at Thor's and who defer to their maid as an older sibling for all practical purposes. If Ferris and Vincent are in a pickle (Vince and Margarita), it's the maid who comes and bails them out. When Class 7 fights to retake Thor's in Cold Steel 2, they fight battles against members of class 1 and 2, but also the servants of class 1 and 2. When Ferris takes over Riveria Court and employs some of the servants of house Florald there, the deep mutual respect is on full display. The servants of house Florald aren't good at running a business, and Ferris recognizes this isn't fair to them and does everything she can to lift their spirits and encourage them. They, in turn, give it everything they have; the new situation is not comfortable for them, but they give full effort because of their loyalty and love for Ferris and for house Florald. There are many other examples (Annabelle, that one little girl whose traveling Erebonia with her family and who is being raised by the maid, etc.), this is just the ones that immediately occurred to me. I left out Sharon and the Reinford family and Oliver and Mueller because that's obvious to everyone. This absolutely is an Erebonian cultural thing. We do see it in Liberl as well (Hilda and Queen Alicia / Phillip and Duke Dunan / Mayor Maybelle and her maid) but Liberl doesn't really have a hereditary aristocracy, so it's not that prevalent. It's also not a thing in Crossbell (the butler to house McDowell is a very important figure, but nowhere near what it is in Erebonia) or Calvard (where people consider hereditary aristocrats kind of icky).

This dialogue with Agate can be totally skipped if you don't take him with you. On the same note, you might have missed some different dialogue with Olivier, which probably is a different bit of lore. This is why I love this series so much, but it can also be a bit infuriating sometimes.

Tio from Perzel farm had like a generic NPC model in this game, but in one of the screenshots for the remake, Tio has a unique character model. So I'm expecting a lot, like a lot of the npcs will have unique character models. The 3d trails games did that quite a lot.

Speaking of the town music, the town music in these two games are mainly made by two person. Rolent and Bose by Sonoda, the veteran game maker and music leader. He is very solid and efficient in music producing, but mediocore and rarely produce fan favorites. Ruan, Zeiss, and Grancel by Ishibashi, although very young, his music is very comforting, but he left Falcom shortly after the release of FC and passed away in 2014 (at the age of 39). Falcom is known for the high quality of their music, and at least this will continue for the next 9 games or so.

Dark Matter is a way to kill the Shining Poms. The problem is that your team when you tried to do that was terrible for magic. Agate, Tita, and Zin have garbage magic stats, and Estelle's isn't much better. Dark Matter works a lot better if you're using Olivier, Kloe, or Schera, the people who actually have a good magic stat.

Agate was a slum kid, he probably wasn't given a complete education like most people, but even than he seems more educated than Estelle more often than not. Comparison being that Agate probably didn't have a formal education until his young adult years, and Estelle has been able to live in within a warm family and community that would make it easy for her to get a formal education at a young age, but Agate is the one that can understand complex matters quickly, while Estelle is like; "What does 2 to the power of 2 mean!?!?"

I very much recommend bringing Olivier for this section, I think. Since he's mysterious, and you want to know more about him. (And he's just a fucking hoot always :3). Also just consider prioritizing bringing olivier in general (he's the best arts caster slightly behind Kloe). Also, for example, for that Felicity quest, you should've obviously taken along Kloe (a fellow St Astria student) and Olivier (an Erebonian) to get more relevant/interesting dialogue. For the rest of this game, bringing on the right people is somewhat important to get the best experience (which is unfortunate, but you gotta deal with it).

Ironic how you took Kloe out of the party right before the side quest that would be relevant for her. Anyway, If you talked to Reina and felicity. you could have learned that they tricked Felicity to go to Bose for an arranged marriage meeting when she thought it was just a vacation. You could have also learned how Felicity hated how Reina treated her as someone above herself even when they weren't in Erebonia and both classmates. It was kinda sad tbh, Felicity sounded genuinly excited about hanging out with Reina in Bose during that time. While Reina was plotting this.

So Dark Matter *is* the best method to kill Shiny Poms outside of S-Crafts but how effective Dark Matter will be is highly dependent on your ATS. Someone like Kloe or Olivier who have high innate ATS and have been given equipment and quartz to further boost their ATS will see Dark Matter do far more damage than someone like Agate or Zin who favor STR instead (and whose S-Crafts would be optimal for fighting Shiny Poms). I remember when I played waaay back in the day I'd very willingly give up defense stats on casters for more ATS whenever possible and just throw them far in the back where they'd hopefully be safe from danger.
@Soul_Devour19 күн бұрын
Also Tita and Zin were SUPER under leveled for that first shiny pom encounter lol.

Shining Pom tip: Time arts are better that mirage arts to hit them, all of the time arts. Hells gate and Death scream are great to farm Shining poms, but Dark spear have that KO chance and it's cheaper. All and all walk with fully charged S crafts is the optimal way tbh

You say Zin is strong even compared to Agate at 58:40 but you're also looking at Zin with STR buff. STR buff adds A LOT, so Agate with Morale/STR buff will also be doing crazy amount of damage.

You see it With Zin and his 'True Distend' skill but you have to keep in mind Nico that those stat increases do have a huge impact to the fight depending on how they are used. That buff is great, but one thing I liked to do is use Kloe's debuff skills to decrease an enemies Defense, feed Agate the biggest STR boosting food item I have, have him 200 CP S-Break for massive damage, and then Wild Rage to get full CP leading to another S-Break while still under the buff's duration. You can layer on some insane amount of damage that way by getting a max enhanced S-Break on the character with the beefest STR stat. True Distend is though easily the strongest buff skill in the game, layer that with a S-Break for Zin and you can lay down the hurt as well. Also keep in mind that physical characters (Agate, Zin, Tita, etc) tend to have very low ATS. That's why your magic against the Shining Pom did 0 damage, because it was so long the Shining Pom could laugh it off. If you used a magical focused character (Kloe, Oliver) you would have likely done a lot more damage to it. Its better to specialize characters to do either the highest amount of physical damage (buff STR to the Max) or the highest amount of magical damage (buff ATS to the max). As for magic I prefer getting stuff like heals, buffs, and Earth Guard on them because those magics are the same regardless of how high their ATS is. Or don't. JRPG and their numbers can drive a gamer crazy.
