If you don't need starlink, then you don't need it at any price. If you don't mind being offline for a few days, or only travel places with other internet options (LTE, Wi-Fi), then it's safe to ignore starlink. If you need starlink - you need to be online no matter what - it's still worth every penny.

Look to do a fiber co-op with your local community. If you pull the money with your neighbors you might make it happen (assuming it's really an option). I've read where people have done this and looking into it myself. And wow some get 10GB fiber.

Guess I'll just cancel one of my streaming services to make up the difference. NOT What's 15 bucks when you're traveling and buying gas and campgrounds, etc. When camping without cell service, and you are able to have Starlink Internet. Cheap at any price and they know it. I can turn my RV service to pause in the winter when I'm using my $50 a month unlimited T-Mobile home Internet. So how does that work out. T-Mobile for 6 months $300 Starlink RV (new price) $900 By pausing each one for 6 months I save $600 instead of having Starlink RV on all year. All this sounds expensive but remember what you paid for your WeBoost etc. You can sit around a campfire WITHOUT the internet. Can you really?

I just canceled my service, I was told in August of 22 that my area was deemed best effort after being on the pre-order waiting list since it went live back in Jan/Feb 21? In Aug 22 it was either order the service ( at the 110/month rate, when pre-order went live it was 100/month ) or cancel the pre-order and lose spot. Not wanting to lose my spot I placed the order and the service has never been great and is still best effort. At this point Im done paying full price for subpar service so they can build out their network. I am happy this is a viable option for rural people with no other option, just not for me at this time.

Kudos MIRC - as always, excellent coverage and communications! It's not rocket science to realize that just like mobile cellular, as LEO satellite facility usage goes up and system performance goes down, like it or not the network economics require "adjustments" based on supply and demand. In retrospect, Starlink played the game beautifully - initially giving heavily subsidized dishy and monthly service rates on a "better than nothing" with great performance (when it didn't have dropouts due to inadequate number of orbital satellite planes). As expected, the early influential adopters mostly loved the performance and soon the pied pipers had tons of us lemmings following closely behind. So here we are today, realizing the whole thing is deja vu, a replay of mobile - whether you market it as 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G or whatever, it's all variations of the same game. Happy Trails, Michael

Somehow in all the buzz we seem to have forgotten that Starlink was promoted to the FCC to provide desperately needed affordable high-bandwidth service to... RURAL AMERICA. So while we're starting to see the first shoe dropping with a two-tier Residential rate structure based on geographical "cell" areas, we shouldn't be surprised when the other shoe comes down and the Starlink management begin marching... But wait, there's more! Going from 1,000 LEOs to 10,000 and beyond is pricey, especially with costly modifications like Laser inter-satellite links (LISLs). Hopefully SpaceX will soon find economic advantages transitioning from Falcon 9 to high capacity Starship rockets to fulfill the BIG PICTURE - use Starships to colonize Mars, infinity and beyond!

While it's not ideal to have two separate Starlink services and two separate systems, the RV plan can still be paused at any time, correct? So, when you're at your residence and not traveling, just put the RV plan on pause so you're not wasting that $150/month. Again, I know it's not ideal, and you still gotta pay for the extra dish, but it may still be worth considering for some part timers.

@@CharlesAnsman When you piss off a large number of your loyal customers does that help your business or hurt it? Read through the comments and you’ll notice that 90% of the customers are unhappy and many are considering ditching their service. Raising the price twice a year is NOT a viable long term business model. Radically altering the subscriber plans once a year is not a long term viable business strategy. Starlink is no longer worth the upfront costs and hassle for RV’rs compared to cellular. If you have decent cellular signal then cellular is a better choice.

We got Starlink (For RV'ers) back in June of 2022. We were in Wyoming at the time on a cross country trip. Since then, we have had nothing but good luck with the service. Once we understood the limitations we had to deal with (clear via of the sky) we felt comfortable with pulling the trigger. We also have 100GB of TMobile for $50 a month. But, so far we haven't needed it. For us, we need internet all day everyday so we will not be getting rid of our Starlink due to the price increase. Its not great but, the service is worth it to us right now. If they keep going up then, we will re-evaluate at that time. Having unlimited service with mostly decent speeds is a BIG plus for us right now. I just hope we will still be able to pause the service as needed.

I understand the data cap and totally agree with it. But this price increase does not make any sense. They are chastising people because their Network can't support, at the current time, the number of users in an area. Why should a customer have to pay more for less service. That being said I love Starlink I'm a full-time RVer and it has totally changed the experience of camping. So even with this price increase I still think it's a good deal. We all want Starlink to succeed, it is a business but this price increase to the majority of their customers is unwarranted. It should have been a blanket increase on all subscriptions no matter where you live.
