Upgraded quite a while ago to a dual modem 5G peplink, back when I had multiple hot spots on different carriers I just put the same SSID on all the hotspots so I didn't have to change the many devices in the RV. Now having roamlink on board and starlink it's pretty redundant.

Great talk. So if I put something in Priority 2 , say my RoamLink, will it initialize and be ready to connect should Priority 1 go down. Thus facilitating a quicker switch over. Or, is priority 2 disabled and has to start and initialize and obtain a connection before it can be used?

That would be failover, which can take a few moments to negotiate. More available for our members at: www.rvmobileinternet.com/bonding

@@MobileInternetResourceCenter went to the members info. Looks like what I’m describing is called hot standby. Try to do a search at the site and cannot find any additional information on how I would set that up on my Peplink router. I want Starlink to be my primary service and should it fail and go down I wanted to switch over to my RoamLink. But I want RoamLink to be connected and ready to send and receive data. Should Starlink go down most of the time it’ll just be there connected to the cellular service not passing any data.

@@MobileInternetResourceCenter ok, will do, searching site yielded no info on Hot Stand by other than the very high level description but no details on what it looks like or how to set it up. All these how goo’s should be available and findable on the members pages and not have to be asked for on forums. Could be that the info is there and the search engine is just not finding it.

Every alternative connection on a Peplink dashboard is always in Hot Standby by default - there is nothing to set up. The connection in priority two is ready to take over the instant a priority one connection is determined as being down. The potential catch is that it can sometimes take a bit of time for the router to realized that a connection is actually down (and not just slow), so there is often a bit of delay. Using bonding via SpeedFusion has a single virtual connection over multiple physical connections, so that much more effectively masks drops. We can go deeper into this in the member forums if you'd like - see you over there!
