BIG STEAM RETURNS TO THE RAILS OF SOUTH AFRICA - 25NC 3437 - KLOOFEIND and DE BRUG

The fourth and final day of our mainline adventures with 3437 was spent around Kloofeind and De Brug on the secondary mainline between Bloemfontein and Kimberley. Despite huge obstacles and seemingly endless challenges, Bernd Seiler has achieved what many observers considered to be near impossible. His loyal supporters spent thousands of Euros, Dollars and Rand to take part in his audacious adventure and came away with a collection of wonderful images, videos and memories. The power of steam and the willingness of its devotees to travel thousands of kilometres in the hope of seeing something truly remarkable should not be dismissed lightly. I grew up with steam trains running in those days between Cape Town and Simon's Town in beautiful South Africa. At eighty years young, I still thrill to the snorting, belching, puffing and pure power sound of these amazing machines! Well done to all for the great video, and long may they continue!
