Biggest narrative driven statistic is Franklin’s performance in big games. It’s people discounting situation entirely for individual results to arrive at the erroneous conclusion that he can’t rise to the occasion. This guy brought a program back from the brink of collapse after the worst ncaa punishment of a generation. Penn State didn’t even have a full cycle of 100% scholarship allotment until 2020 on top of fines/reputational damage etc. You play Michigan and Ohio State annually with a range of 5-20 less scholarship athletes for a few years, no coach in America is gona fair all that well. And he usually has his teams a play away from getting it done! Begging people to think critically about this for once 😂

Excellent point. Oh - and let's remember that in many of those games PSU wasn't even the favorite. Franklin has always had to carry the crazy fan and media expectations that PSU has to do more with less and still expect to consistently come out on top. I don't know why he can't match Ohio State or Michigan's level of recruiting, but without Franklin we'd be let's say, Nebraska. Still in search of some program and coaching consistency after a decade or more. Oregon is loaded and on a mission, so I don't expect an upset victory. But PSU will fight hard.
