Is it possible to achieve the same result using 4 microwave transformers as HV source?

Hello, Just came across your question. People do seem to perform "miracles" with MOT's but I doubt that similar results could be achieved without the pig or equivalent.

If you want a single streamer try a sphere top load, ive seen arcs climb straight up and just stand there its real spooky because they dont retract immediately

Hi, A sphere would be hopeless for secondary protection and field control, the toroid size is less than optimal as it is.

@@phillipstrauss6060 then make just the top half spherical and the bottom toroidal just like the wardenclyffe tower tesla built perhaps?
@phillipstrauss60605 жыл бұрын
@@stagethree1 A 12" secondary demands a large toppled and I doubt whether a sphere or half sphere large enough to remotely shield the secondary. is available. The 50" fabricated toroid was expensive enough and difficult to obtain, we are working on the 60" ring toroid which is a major operation in itself and will be the last effort in this sphere (no pun intended) !

@@phillipstrauss6060 yes i agree toploads are very expensive especially at that scale, any redesign should be tested at low power smaller scale to prove it works,

Cracking video, you say you have a 200bps rotary that you use on your 8" coil, have you done a test of using the 200bps RSG on the 12" coil, I`m guessing you are using a pole pig for the power supply if so have you thought about using a high speed Async gap (Oh love the location BTW inside a HAS so which cold war airfield was it....?), oh and it looks like you beat our old record for arc length. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2LEmJakZ9qfgpo

Yes 11.55kv pole pig for supply, over-driven by the variac to about 12.7kv rms. We recently put the synchronous 200bps rsg on the 12 inch coil, and once we got the phase right, it behaved and sounded just like the 8 inch(although we had matched the mmc sizes and also used the same 50x11 inch toroid, so it was no surprise they behaved the same).

The bunker was at Alconbury near Cambridge.

Forgot to mention that we used a fixed speed ASRSG (364 bps) at Cambridge (10") some years back and it worked pretty well but wanted to experiment with 100 bps for pure interest sake and the lazy ground inclined streamers.
