I like this girl Malina who sits next to me in class. She is from Iowa and I am from Ohio. She told me this is her favorite band, so if course I'm going to listen to the songs to let her know I care. She said this band changed her life and even made her spiritual. So good job I guess guys.

"a dozen dimes will buy a crust of Garlic Bread" is the most John Prine sounding lyric by anybody not named John Prine. If he's ego wasn't gone, he'd probably be jealous he didn't write that line.

I love how Big Thief can add so much fun and humour into their songs whilst still maintaining their melodical and lyrical genius. "Kiss your body up and down other than your elbows Cause as for your elbows they’re on their own Wandering like a rolling stone Rubbing up against the edges of experience "

I'd like to thank my friend for introducing me to this band. We just saw them last night in Oakland and this was their encore. I haven't felt this excited for music in a very long time. Maybe when I saw Elliot Smith in 96 comes the closest.

"When I say celestial I mean extraterrestrial I mean accepting the alien you've rejected in your own heart When I say heart, I mean finish The last one there is a potato knish Baking too long in the sun of Spud Infinity When I say infinity, I mean now Kiss the one you are right now Kiss your body up and down, other than your elbows 'Cause as for your elbows, they're on their own Wandering like a rolling stone Rubbing up against the edges of experience" probably my favorite verse of the year ♡ always makes me smile

Truly. I had an awesome moment on mushrooms like 10 years ago with my friend. We joked about how noble the potato peelers are. Always peeling potatoes for all of time and we started chanting "infinity potato" When this song came out I realized that "Infinity Potato" is truly a universal concept. Love Big Thief.

What's it gonna take? What's it gonna take? What's it gonna take? To free the celestial body? From way up there it looks so small From way down here it looks so small One peculiar organism aren't we all together? Everybody steps on ants Everybody eats the plants Everybody knows to dance even with just one finger What's it gonna take? What's it gonna take? What's it gonna take? To free the celestial body? When I took another look The past was not a history book That was just some linear perception Ash to ask and dust to dusk A dime a dozen aren't we just? But a dozen dimes will buy a crust of garlic bread What's it gonna take? What's it gonna take? What's it gonna take? To free the celestial body? When I say celestial I mean extra-terrestrial I mean accepting the alien you've rejected in your own heart When I say heart I mean finish The last one there is a potato knish Baking too long in the sun of spud infinity When I say infinity, I mean now Kiss the one you are right now Kiss your body up and down other than your elbows 'Cause as for your elbows, they're on their own Wandering like a rolling stone Rubbing up against the edges of experience What's it gonna take? Kmmm... while paying bills and listening to DJ Cari's playlist on "Unsufferable", a radio show archived on WRUW 91.1 in CLE. Had to look up on You Tube and give her another good listen. Just good clean fun with the old folky sound of Jew's Harp, revolutianary drum snare and violin. Good and "Grassy" style of folk. Great voices too.

@james Doctor some are moving away from the term Jew’s harp as it has nothing to do with Jewish culture/ music - hence some use Jaws harp or mouth organ etc - musicologist go off the deep end on the origin of the name from a French English misunderstanding - hoping we can settle on a single better term going forward.
@elyellowbear716 Жыл бұрын
well, you can also call it jaw's arp or mouth arp, which i find to be much better terms
