I feel lucky to be alive while Adrianne Lenker is making music. Out of all the great writers around today, she's truly special. Someone people will still listen to with awe 100 years from now.

her album "songs" is some of the most beautiful songwriting ive ever heard, adrianne is already one of the greats, even if the world doesn't know it yet.

I truly believe Adrienne will go down almost as important to Elliott smith and Jeff Buckley except she has these other incredible artists around her. She writes everything but they collaborate on the sound and style
@drd89742 жыл бұрын
When the higher octave vocal harmonies come in, there's either some tape warble effect on Adrianne's vocals, or there are so many takes multi-tracked that it has crazy on-purpose phasing issues and she sounds like she's everywhere in my headphones. Just an astonishing production nuance to me. Thanks Big Thief, this is an amazing piece of music.
@patrickhawkinson83992 жыл бұрын
She has a heavy natural vibrato in her voice. Multiply that times however many layers they used in the harmonies and you have that effect. It almost sounds like a Leslie speaker.
@el_spaghetto Жыл бұрын
I think it's on one or two of the vocal tracks that are panned over to the right channel, there's a nice, soft chorus/phaser type effect going on. Really good choice to nestle that into the vocal layers, unless that's just something that happened naturally while she was recording the harmonies. Mad respect if that's what's going on there; that's really hard to do without any effects.

Wrapped in the wings of a sparrow Beak is as sharp as an arrow Sings in a whispering whistle Sleeps in the ivy and thistle Owls out swooping and howling Deep in the midnight a' prowling Mama the scream of the eagle Threading my heart through the needle Threading the blood through the apple Sucking the juice from the apple Eating the seeds of the apple Bearing the tree of the apple Trapped in the weeds like a scarecrow Stuck to the wind like Velcro Distantly hearing the bell toll Warbling chime through the meadow Mama the scream of the eagle Threading my heart through the needle Threading the blood through the apple Eve sucked the juice from the apple Nakedly running I saw her Boy chasing after to stall her I wish I'd have spoken to call her Before she found fabric to shawl her Breasts bound and burdened with fiber Adam came trembling beside her And he said, he said "She has the poison inside her She talks to snakes and they guide her" She has the poison inside her She talks to snakes and they guide her She has the poison inside her She talks to snakes and they guide her She has the poison inside her She talks to snakes and they guide her

eve ate the apple after being tricked. adam ate it consciously, without influence of the snake. yet generations of fathers and their sons blame eve for the original sin. the feminine is always blamed as deceitful, and the masculine as truthful. but we all share the burden (blessing?) of the apple.

Why the Hell did Pitchfork rate Little Things the best new track? Not to take away, great track but c'mon, this one steals the show and then robs 6 banks. It must be because Pitchfork is run by deaf people who use their toes toi feel music vibrations and then rate it according to that. 100$ Canadian for anyone with a photo of a Pitchfork employee holding their toes up to speakers
