Fwiw, you can literally just find a 10 minute recap on the first Alan Wake game on KZbin and that’s more than enough for playing Alan Wake 2. Also, experiencing that song in the game is one of the best gaming moments of my life. You’ll see why 😂

Alan Wake 2 also has plenty of catch up story bits within the game. You get more out of it by playing Alan Wake 1, Quantum Break, and Control, but I wouldn't deem it necessary strictly speaking.

"Who even played Cocoon?" Indie games unfortunately for the most part don't have the marketing reach as big games or the few breakout indie hits, so the amount of people is definitely lower than it should be, because it's a great game. Also, this is a quality contest, not popularity. I highly recommend playing Cocoon, it is good.

Around 2:40:01 I do like that kinda music, sometimes. Like in Control, where listening to this genre of music was the only way to beat that infinite maze area. That kicked ass. Their weird shittalking of Hellblade 2 was offputting. Did none of them play the first one? It's literally like this just better graphically. Also that "brainrot" comment was dumb also. The first one was extremely brave for what it did. And they absolutely deserved to go full steam ahead with anything they want. Also not knowing Heilung is extremely cringe. They've gotten pretty big by now.

They had a whole segment on their podcast shit talki g it after finishing it because they think the gameplay is boring but more importantly they think the underlying message of "mental illness is hard and awful" is bad because it serves no happy resolution and the ending message feels like "just give up I guess" which they find disgusting. It's their words, maybe not fully, I may also be lying because that stuff was months ago and I will be honest - rememberjng everything they said about it is hard.

@@GigaBoots Well to be honwst it was a long time ago and lets be honest - to a casual viewer like me over time it just blended together that "Oh yeah they hate Ninja Theory because they think they're hacks and that their games play terribly" so I am kinda short on the details. Thamks for the correction tho. I was actually afraid I got it wrong so hearing there's more helps to not feel like I did such a dishonorable and awful thing like spreading missinformatoon on the internet (who would do that?!)

I know its fun to meme on esports because of how much of it is awful and money laundering, but its not all like that. Faker isnt a household name in south korea for no reason. League of Legends Worlds finals this year had more viewership than like the MLB world series has ever had. Several times more than the MLB had this year. I wish there was less instant bias against it. I know the game awards are basically a joke, but its still legitimately cool to see JDG and T1 get some public recognition in the west and its kind of depressing that a large chunk of the west will just treat it completely derisively.

@JoelBurger Youre right, viewership should not be the sole deciding factor. But also im sorry, this years LoL Worlds was maybe the best theyve ever done. It was not just an event with big viewership numbers, it was an amazingly produced event with fantastic games and narratives across basically its entire month run. Evo was hype, Worlds 2023 was better. Faker alone also brings an absolutely absurd amount of eyes on something from people who would otherwise maybe never go near it
