I thought this was interesting but there were two areas that for me I don't quite understand, in the the part talking about post-traumatic growth he says finding meaning in the incident can allow you to recover and ultimately find happiness. However for myself, though I have never suffered from PTSD, I do not believe that these events have a meaning, I don't believe that the universe owes us meaning and i belive that coincidence does exist and that our lives themselves do not have meaning, we create our own personal meaning, so does Tal Ben-Sahar mean it is a meaning we need to find for ourselves or it is a meaning in the sense of a universal meaning? Secondly where he refers to the luck school, he says that people who believe in luck become luckier, but again, for the same sort of reasons as above I do not believe in luck and i do not think being happier would change that, I'm just quite a pragmatic person, so my main misunderstanding is that it seems Tal Ben-Sahar seems to point to people having, what I would see as, almost supernatural beliefs in meaning and luck as a means to being happy. Anyone elses take on this would be interesting.

Elliot Topham You`re not a pragmatic person you`re a close minded ignorant. Not even God (probably dont`t believe in Him) can`t change your negative-ignorant view of the world if you don`t want to , can`t understand it because you`re to stuborn or dumb.

To your first point I suppose that someone who has allowed themselves to believe in universal meaning, believes it to the extent of their personal interpretation. Paradoxically it would be a meaning they would have found for themselves, in a way they have chosen to believe, just as the existentialist would. Someone who believes in luck is more likely to be optimistic. They may not dwell on "unlucky" events. Optimistic people are also more likely to pursue opportunities that might bring them "luck". Good questions. I'm not sure if I've answered them fully.

A number of restarts or lost thoughts make me think the video's editor didn't finish their job... unless he aims to show us his failures on the way to successfully completing this video?

What means "lecturer in psychology"? Have a PhD, or MS or "wish to have one"? And not having, asking: Why not???? But how comes that Spanish speaking community is so fan of him?
@alanbritos19874 жыл бұрын
He received his PhD from Harvard University and later on, as a lecturer at this University, he created the most popular course in Harvard's history (more than 1400 students). But how comes that people ask such questions... instead of looking for the information themselves.....? PD. I am a Spanish fan also missing subtitles, haha! (maybe just because there are not many videos of Tal Ben-Shahar subtitled in Spanish ??)
