Big Top Earrings!
Hello Peeps, welcome!
My original intent was to make simple, fun earrings. Earrings that wouldn’t demand lots of products, but just basic stuff, clay, blade, ruler, deli paper. What I ended up making look like they belong at the Barnum and Bailey Circus! They make me laugh and I like to laugh.
Now, maybe different colors would be less funny and less Big Top-py? Probably. That Red and Yellow kind of scream peanuts and elephants and a midway where you never win that big old stuffed unicorn.
Anyway, I decided to go ahead and publish it. There are many things I shoot that never make it to you. After weighing the good, the bad and the silly, well, you know what I decided to do.
They're not elegant or upscale or museum style, they’re simply polyclay fun and I do hope you enjoy them!
Hugs, D

What amuses me is that in London 🇬🇧 where i live, men wear grey and black stripy suits to work. From now on, i will for ever picture them wearing clown shoes with their silly suits. 😂🥳

I don’t think anyone likes clowns, but I love your work. You remind me of myself-detailed. It’s the details that make the difference. You’re my favorite clay artist.

The _Cirque du Soleil_ shows are absolutely worth it. I saw them in Las Vegas. The show was ethereal and very impressive in terms of gymnastics and the storytelling was so creative. Donna, you’d love it!

Agreed! We have been to Cirque du Soleil several times here in Melbourne, Aust. The latest show, Luzia we saw in April and it was spectacular! A waterfall on stage that reminded me of their Las Vegas arena. Have told my hubs that taking me there would be the only reason I'd go to Las Vegas.

Those are fun! Also, you always could repackage your 25 lb of gold pins 😂 & sell them on your website. This way you would get rid of some clutter and somebody else could get a use out of them.

Thank u for another relaxing and fun video! Thank u for showing that u don’t have to be so anally perfect about your clay work bc when u become to much of a perfectionist it seems to suck all the joy out of the art! It’s funny that u think their circus themed! I’m an nurse and they remind me of wacky pills! 😂

Yeah, I think mimes are more horrible than clowns, too - but I always have problems with pretentious, self absorbed people. I love the earrings, circus motifs are fun in a bottle!

I, myself, do not have a fear of clowns but a good friend does. She is intelligent, cultured and well-traveled. She would also come out on top of any bar fight, but show her a clown and she's out of there! I think that fear is so prevalent because as very young children, we recognize that something is NOT quite right with that human, but we don't know what it is. And we are taught not to ask questions about someone who seems to be deformed, so it's a few years before we realize that clowns wear make-up and costumes. BTW, polka dots are so retro and I love 'em too (along with stripes)!

you know, for me, they're unpredictable and that makes me very nervous. Here's this person, who I cannot identify, acting out. And they're adults, acting like children. Never have liked them, my first impulse is always to turn around and leave! Hugs, D

Hi Donna! Loving all of your classes. I live in Florida where we wear lots of bright colors, at some point would you teach another class making more earrings with lots of bright colors? I’m really bad with color so this would be super helpful. Thank you so so much for sharing your time and talent with us, I feel so lucky to have you as a teacher. Thanks, Gina

Hi Donna, can you please tell me how you keep your polymer conditioned and stored? As I find when I condition my clay and store it in a plastic bag, when I come to use it I have to condition it again. Thank you Chris :). I love these earrings, I can see lots of potential with many colours. Cheers
@DonnaKatoArt
