BIG TRACTORS from 1993

Big Tractor Power looks at its five manufactures of high horse power tractors in North America for model year 1993. Case International, Caterpillar, Ford New Holland, John Deere and McConnell-Marc offered a variety of articulated 4wds, fixed frame 4wds and tracked tractors.

WOW, 30 years ago. In my farming area at the time, the Wimmera ( Horsham ) Victoria, Australia, Front Wheel Assist was just beginning to appear in the paddocks marking the move away from big 2 wheel drive tractors. When I say big I mean for our farming district, 4280, 4480 Chamberlain, 766 866 Inter and plenty of others, 120hp but below 150hp. thanks for posting, cheers.

Jd 8970 debut in 1993 400 hp Cummins. I was used to seeing 12 foot disks in the field. But the first time I seen this thing unfold and in operation, my jaw just dropped I said my god lol.

The 9260 is a cool tractor. It was upgrade from the 4894 and the last 4 way steer tractor built by Case IH.

The Massey Ferguson 4800 series and the South African build ACO tractors was my favorite of the articulated tractors back in the Day

My favorite articulated is the 8960. First articulated I ever drove. It has a degelman blade on it so I pushed/packed with it

I spent many hours on 8760 John Deere,pulling a 32 foot disc. It was the best tractor I ever drove. It was a great tractor. Never had any issues. I could have lived in that tractor. We also have case ih articulated tractor and compared to the Deere is was junk. It was noisy,they skipped on a lot of quality,and it took twice the space of the Deere to turn around. The turbo whistle in the cab would dive you insane.

The McConnell Mark was interesting. The one pulling the plow had a red "M" on the grill, but the one pulling the disk had what looked like a Massey badge on its grill. And it looked like Massey graphics on the hood. Did they ever collab on tractors? Great video Jason!

The McConnell Mark was simply a Massey rebadged...the fella that bought the Massey articulating tractor line renamed it after his son but unfortunately got into financial trouble and went out of business

There is a ridged frame 9240 as well. The 9260 replaced the Case 4894 and the 9240 replaced the 4694.

The sound is the seed delivery fans on the 1990 CCS air drill. All air drills create that sound.
