Very interesting. Didn't realize you had to work the ground so much. I've seen the fields out in Imperial Valley and the soil is not mellow at all. Clods hard as concrete. I'm sure it's the same up north. I know it was always a big thing to put rice tires on your combine in the 70's back in Illinois. Looking forward to harvest!

I’ve seen some of his videos before. Guy makes some good informative stuff. Always wondered how they got along running those pre emission tractors in Cali as strict as their stupid laws are on that kind of stuff. It hurt the trucking industry pretty hard out there I know.

@Farmer George Yeah breathable air is so overrated. Not sure you equate commercial trucks to small business but you do know that Gale Banks (Banks Performance) lives and works out of California making aftermarket parts for diesels and that the majority of his parts are available in California. I'm no fan of the EGR and DPF crap however if we keep filling the air with poisons what will our children and grandchildren breathe?

I have been subscribed to the Rice channel for about a year but this was very interesting. The entire process is quite intricate. i really liked the idea of seeding by airplane.. The last year I farmed out in Washington back in the late 70's I had a circle of winter wheat planted (145) acres cause the road to the field was washed out and impassable. It worked great and had a really nice stand of winter wheat. Progress is always interesting in modern agriculture.

Here in Arkansas there are over 1 million acres of rice farmed (most of it along the Mississippi river) accounting for around 40% of total US production. Riceland rice is a farmer owned co-op headquartered in Stuttgart, Arkansas and is the worlds largest miller and marketer of rice according to Wikipedia. Glad I looked it up. I knew rice was big here but didn't know it was that big.

My goodness, after all those operations, I hope they get a good return on their crop, I would have thought it may be better using contractors using big articulated four wheel drive tractors of 500/600 hp pulling wider cultivators keeping the cost down . Kevin Fox, London Essex
@md.fuelkiller1990
@md.fuelkiller1990 4 жыл бұрын
That was my thought, too. I was very irritated by the operations. It looks a bit overdone to mee. Especialy the leveling, followed by a very unstable injector (wondering why it is floating so much, it is 3-Point mounted so what the fuck) and later raced on by that roller (great, get it uneven, you're just leveled it, but ok). I would recommend to kick the leveling process, inject the fitst time and then go with a seedbed cultivator to "level it" and getting a very smooth, fine surface. Also i would change the first chisel ploughs, because they don't maintain their working depth as seen. They should use some with the main wheels lifted and get one with adjustable ones at front and rear to get the chisel more stable and ballanced. less passes, better quality and less operations, which are more effective. just my idea of getting the money out

Butch, I farm in Northern California as well and can say that the old tractors do smoke. Up here we’re “encouraged” to upgrade to newer machines through the Air Resource Board’s programs but at the end of the day the old tractors are simply more reliable. The programs allow for repower projects on the old machines to tier 4 engines but I have yet to see a project like that. Hope it answers your question.
