I don’t think it’s ETH’s long term plan to play with a false 9. I think Zirkzee and Garnacho is purely down to fitness. That’s why he played Maguire Ahead De ligt as well, with Nous at RB he he has no other options. I think certain players not playing is down to fitness and them not having a full pre season.

I doubt Mount and Fernandes will be used too often together once Zirkzee is fully fit and when Rasmus is back. Seems like ETH has experimented with it but won't use it unless for certain games, after all Zirkzee can play a "false 9" type of game. Mount/Bruno reminds me a little of Arteta shoehorning Havertz in with Odegaard in midfield, in theory works but not in reality. Utd's problem is we don't have the same level of all round stability or quality to absorb that kind of experiment in the same way Arsenal did.
