Its great to see your vids back and hope you recover fully. Your videos show what its like to be in Algonquin. I made a few this summer from your inspiration but nowhere as good as yours, take care and we all look forwards to the new ones.

First, beautiful country. I'm from Phoenix, AZ USA and we just don''t have the type of beauty you have. Second, excellent video production. Really... not craziness or distracting music. Narration is informative and you do have a calm voice.

Thanks a lot. Yeah Canada is a big beautiful place... Algonquin is just scratching the surface. That being said I would love to visit AZ one day. I'be been through a few of the parks in California and was blown away. Lots of places in the US are on my bucket list!

Great video, I did this route 4 years ago going the opposite direction. Makes me very glad I had sun the whole time and healthy hands, but damn your tough for stickin it out.

Thank you. It was more of a mental challenge than anything... the next year was a continuation of confusion and trying to get better / figure things out. I still don't know what the what but I'm better these days.

+Tumblehome I'm not sure if you've seen any of my videos, (certainly not in the same league as yours though), but I've put up a few of solo trips and trips I've done with my brother in Algonquin over the past few years. You set the bar pretty high for filming and editing and I watch your vids closely to see how I can get better. All the best in your recovery.
@JasonIrwinTumblehome9 жыл бұрын
+Larry Hyett I think by "set the bar high" you mean I put way too much time and energy into cutting these vids together!... and I couldn't agree more. ( my wife would tell you the same thing ). I just watched your latest solo trip and yes I've seen a bunch of your vids/trips with your bro in the past... I have lots of catching up to do though (with your vids and many others)

+TheAdam473 Tell me about it! I've been pecking away at this edit for well over a year! Ten minutes here, 20 minutes there... ridiculous how long it took. I've been working on a little movie about a 4 day spring solo in French River as well and its about 75% done so should be out soon.

Did you figure out what happened to your hands?
@JasonIrwinTumblehome9 жыл бұрын
+The Wooded Beardsman Long story short is that it is most likely a viral or bacterial infection.... Lyme? Chikungunya? I have tested neg for Lyme here in Canada but positive via testing in the US. I'm better but not 100%
@TheWoodedBeardsman9 жыл бұрын
Tumblehome Well that's good news. I hate to watch people suffer - it's even worse when you don' know why and so don't know how to treat it. I really enjoyed all of your videos. I've watched all your outdoor adventures and you do a spectacular job putting them together. Would you do a video about how you set up your camera on the canoe and the gear you use? Maybe just a simple tutorial from your house. I see some really nice camera angles in the canoe!

While picking any live plants within the Park is prohibited, it is good to know that Wintergreen has a natural anti-inflammatory. It can be chewed or taken as a tea. Otherwise, I would recommend Arnica Gel, rather than ingest damaging over the counter meds.
@JasonIrwinTumblehome4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for those tips! I ended up being really sick for about 18 months... some sort of viral or bacterial infection i think. I'm better now but my journey was one of learning and I use quite a few natural immune helpers these days :-)

Are you allowed to camp anywhere? I remember when I went there I was giving a particular camp site.
@JasonIrwinTumblehome7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tony, in most of Algonquin you have to book a particular lake but can choose whichever campsite you like - or whatever is left! - on that lake.

Yeah. I briefly thought about a June mission but I really don't like tripping with rabid bugs so I opted for motorcycle trip instead :-). September and October though...!!! Hope we don't have a bad second phase of this thing.

Can you tell us how you animate your maps?
@JasonIrwinTumblehome9 жыл бұрын
+Les Dempsey (Solo Lesta) I created a clean version of the map area in Photoshop (scanned the Park map and altered it), then I imported that into After Effects and did the moves in there. I'm not a AE pro but there are many good tutorials online about doing map animations.

If you have not already, you should visit a rheumatologist. Have your bloodwork done and include a uric acid test. I suspect that may be gout.

how are the hands doing now?
@JasonIrwinTumblehome7 жыл бұрын
I am much better now. It has taken quite a while to mend all the various things that were going on but whatever it was (or is) has run its course or gone into submission. I'm basically back to normal with a few nagging issues that could be related or could just be aging!
