Brakes are probably shot from the XDS braking to help turn-in. ESC doesn't know he's put a genuine limited-slip, so it braking the inside wheel hard to tighten the line.

The Golf GTI is often "skipped" in favour of the R (or earlier: R32), but especially with the Golf VII the GTI is the sporty-er choice since it doesn't drag around the heavy (and not very long-lasting) 4Motion-System. Also, a GTI has the heritage of being the first "hot hatch".

everyone complaining about the brakes, do not understand the DSG transmission. if you move the gear lever to sport the car will engine brake for you. if you want to shift the car then it just blips the throttle and gives you no engine braking at all. I've attended many autocross and track events and the car is always driven in sport. also pushed my stock brakes well passed 70k miles. I've never really felt brake fatigue. before I knew about this, braking felt like shit. I hope this helps. I hope Matt will give another dsg mk6 or mk7 a try. The power-drop above 6k could be an indication of the electric limiter the Golf (I think) still has. If it does the car wont "bounce off" the redline, but 100rpm short of the redline the ECU will cut off fuel supply to drop about 1k revs.

Before you drop the coin on a Brembo kit I'd look at EBC red brake pads with Ate fluid. I've gone from 120 to about 0 pretty quickly in my mk6 and lost no significant brake power after. The Kevlar/metallic blend stands up to heavy braking while putting off hardly any unsightly brake dust.

The real problem is a lot of these vehicles are setup for looks, driven daily, and assumed "ah nahh, they don't rub" Than once you start pushing the car, you find out, yeah it rubs. Once my new bushings and coilovers settled in, and I started running the car hard, I noticed some rubs and scrapes, so I had to re-adjust about a half inch of ride height.

You don't need a BBK; you just need better pads and fluids. I track my VW CC with EBC Yellowstuff on all four corners. I never have had the brakes fail me once in a 25 minute session. Including doing four track days in 9 days with a 2500 mile road trip in between. I've had other cars I track with stock brakes, just put on pads that are up to the task at hand, and in many cases I could brake later than a BBK equipped car as the most don't change the pads on BBK and you're back to square one instead of getting the right pads.
@ytrabbithole68938 жыл бұрын
Mention the Porsche Boxster brake kit too your man. Much less expensive, and may clear the oem rims. As far as the stock brakes go, my experience is that the stability control kills them. It is constantly tapping the brakes to help with traction even when it does not need too. I did the stability control defeat and my brakes lasted much longer.

@tombarber80138 жыл бұрын
On a perfectly dry road, and after putting on some very sticky rubber and leaving to tires slightly deflated, traction will be very good. The only scenario where you're likely to notice much wheel spin is during hard cornering, near the limit, when weight shifts laterally and the wheel on the inside of the turn has very little force to prevent it from spinning. The question is whether this aftermarket LSD is actually better than what you get with the performance package. Their is no way to tell from watching this video. Additionally, on a wet road both front tires will spin readily in straight-line acceleration,, with any front-wheel-drive car. A mechanical LSD is helpless to do anything about that. With traction control, detection of both front wheels spinning is easily possible thanks to the non-driven wheels at the rear. This allows either engine power to be reduced or both front brakes applied momentrily, or both. The ideal solution might be to use both approaches in a harmonious way, however it would add a lot of weight and cost. raising the question of which approach is best by itself. Because the worst instances of wheel spin are by far the spin that occurs on a wet road even during straight-line acceleration, and since mechanical LSD is helpless to do anything about it, it seems fairly certain to me VW knew what they were doing.

Too bad you didn't remember the GTI when you got your former Focus RS. May have enjoyed it more.

no, every time I drive a GTI the same thing happens. I think it's a nice car, but it does zero for me emotionally and I hate the infotainment system. Plus, that slop they have when you put the DSG in park drives me nuts. They are great cars, just not for me personally.

Did he sell the RS already???

It's a lease, bro.

+TheSmokingTire really? The new CarPlay system seems polarizing. DSG definitely sounds nasty when in Park - Gotta use the parking break every time. Mercedes needs to give us the A45 AMG. That's the only hot hatch that really ticks every button for me and except the GTI.

Noticing some dash-reflection glare reflected from the windshield. I had the same issue with my dashcam. Polarizing filter took care of it. You probably know and may have one. If you do, perhaps rotate it a few degrees? Could help. Love the content

I have polarizer filters on both cameras. But I have to set them once (before the drive) and my direction of travel changes constantly during the drive so there is no perfect setting.

3:00 god i hate getting behind people that feel the need to brake in the middle of every single turn.

I love the build, I just don't get why you wouldn't start with an R with upgraded internals and a K04 from the factory... And I ran 245's all around. Great width if you want traction

You can't get an mk6 Golf R with a DSG unfortunately.

In sport mode using the paddles it will shift up for u sometimes or down, highly annoying, but u just need to put it in manual where u push the stick left, then its proper manual, will shift up at redline just.
