It's extremely weird seeing Vader without his face mask. Although his mask wasn't a full-on mask where his whole face was covered, it was still a "wall" to his real self. Really cool to see him as a person and not a persona. One of the baddest (scariest) wrestlers from my youth. I'm upset the WCW didn't utilize him to his fullest potential. I got to see vader wrestle 3 times live, 2 times in wcw, and in a wwe house show, 1st time in a tag match with steve austin against sting and davey boy smith, then against my favourite wrestler guardian angel / boss man and against undertaker in wwe. All 3 matches were awesome i would say 2nd best match on each show. I only seen him out of character once or twice. With a lot of wrestling often find heels as nicer guys outside the ring. When he first went to wcw i thought he was unbeatable. His matches with sting were amazing for a guy who was nearly 40 at 450lbs doing moonsaults in a 30 min match. Possibly the best big man ever i think.

Unfortunately very few people realize how big a deal Vader was in Japan. Inoki was the most over and revered star in wrestling ever. He was Hogan times ten, a true national hero. To come over and squash him in 2 minutes was the most shocking finish in history. Massive respect.
@bbblackwell Жыл бұрын
@@TurnheadcoughI think Inoki's draw can't be properly appreciated outside of Japan because the type of champion he was appeals specifically to those with native Japanese sensibilities. Hogan was awesome in a far less subtle way; anyone looking at him can immediately appreciate his appeal. Hogan was, and still is, the greatest of all time. Stone Cold was on top for a far shorter time, and wrestled in a post-Hogan era when wrestling was already huge; he didn't have to do the work of getting it there.

He signed my 1994 Toymaker edition WCW Vader action figure, and I still have it in a plexiglass case with lights in it and everything because it's one of my pride and joys. I don't think he was ever underrated, maybe in the end of his career, but I remember him being the big baddest guy all the time. I looked at the list of HOFers and he towers far above a lot of them in so many ways.

What I learned from this interview: 1) Vader has had hundreds of concussions, has survived a serious car crash and is now dying of heart failure. Feelsbadman.jpg 2) Vader never uses the words "work" or "wrestle." He uses the word _fight_ to describe his approach to wrestling, which is certainly fitting. 3) Vader thinks Brock Lesnar is taller than him (Brock is actually 6'2.5", 2 inches shorter than Vader). 4) Vader thinks Bret Hart, one of the greatest workers of all time, is overrated. 5) Vader thinks he was 8 years old in 1966. I think we can attribute the last one to the concussions.

The Steelers were not in Super Bowl XXIV. That game was between the AFC Champion Denver Broncos and the NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers. The Super Bowl that Leon DID appear in was XIV (14) between the Steelers and the Los Angeles Rams. That game was played in January of 1980 in Pasadena, California and the Steelers won 31-19.
