Thanks so much for this as it brought back many happy memories for a Toronto family who skied Big White yearly when our kids were young (an excellent kids ski school there). Now we are newly retired and living near Whistler. Looking forward to seeing your Dolomites trip!

Congratulations on retirement and living out west now! Big White is definitely a great resort for families and skiers of all levels - I’m thankful we visited it. I am super excited to see and ski the Dolomites! Carmelita has been there, but this is my first trip. We are going to ski both the Dolomiti Superski with IKON tickets and the Skirama Dolomiti with EPIC.

I worked as a lifty back in 2004. I lived right on the mountain, and out my front door was a ski run. Talk about a great commute to work. This brings me back, although it appears a lot has changed based on the trail map. I loved working at the top booth of the t-bar. Funniest moment was when a guest missed getting off at the top of the chairlift, missed the emergency trip wire, made the loop and just ended up taking a ride back down the chairlift. The look on their face was priceless.

Another great shoot Jimbo. It looks like the mountain, facilities and especially the village have changed a great deal since I skied Big White 45 years ago as a teen. Whatever magical camera system you're using yields amazing shots. We should all have one. Give me a shout when you're back at home. Would love to make some turns with you again.

Hi Duke new subs here for you. Anyway great video and im excited to see bIg White this season.I usually started with green for warm up and move ahead to black, But since i haven’t been to BW i want to maximise my 4 days skiing with beautiful views and runs and also a one day stroll in the village as i have company who are non skiers. thanks and hope to see more vids from you.cheers!!😊

@YouDecideIsItWorthIt2 күн бұрын
@@johnwicked4982 With four days in the resort, you will have plenty of time to explore and see it all! Since you mentioned you like to warm up on a green with beautiful views, I would start by taking Snow Ghost lift, and then the Alpine T-Bar to the summit and Ski the Sun Run to Bullet Express. Beautiful warm up run with great scenery. I recommend using Snow Ghost over Ridge Rocket when you can because they go to about the same place, but Snow Ghost is more efficient. I found Ridge Rocket to have more of a lineup because the Plaza lift feeds it directly, and with many beginners - the Ridge Rocket stops a lot. Since you like black runs, I think you will also enjoy the Gem Lake lift. It services steeper blue and black runs. It’s not as efficient of skiing because there are some cat tracks at the top and bottom, but it does offer a lot of terrain I think you will enjoy. I really enjoyed every part of the resort. I didn’t get to ski off Falcon because of the light snow pack last year early season so the chair wasn’t open yet, but I think it would offer good skiing. I enjoyed using the goat paths off the top of Bullet Express to access the Cliff Chair (amazing scenery on the lift ride up), but I wasn’t comfortable skiing the cliff chair by myself with the light snow pack and steep terrain, so I stayed on the groomed runs after getting off the Cliff Chair. You’ll have to let me know your thoughts about Big White after you ski it! I’m going to start out skiing in Colorado, in early January we head for St Moritz in Switzerland and will also ski more of Italy’s Dolomites while in Europe. When we get back, I plan to ski more of Canada (Kimberly, Silver Star, White Water, and Castle). Then drop into Montana and finish the ski season in Utah. Please stay in touch! Sincerely, James Duke

Thank you for the kind words! I think you will really enjoy Big White. I have tried a lot of mounts, but this is the one I’ve used all this ski season and it has worked the best: www.amazon.com/dp/B08H5H69TN?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share I attach it just under the handle of the ski pole, then I hold the invisible selfie stick and let the ski pole hang behind me to balance the weight of the camera. For the lift ride shots, I unscrew the invisible selfie stick from the mount and just hold the invisible selfie stick. Appreciate you watching and commenting! Sincerely, James Duke

@@Mark260165 I use Final Cut Pro (an Apple software) and in the titles generator section, they have an option called beams. I adjust the color to green for ski runs, and red for the lifts. It’s a little tedious piecing together the beams on runs that twist and turn, but probably only takes a few minutes for the more complicated ones. I’d love to see the video you put together in Norway!

Hi is Tania , you skied at Big White huh , oh I love that resort . 1- cheap ( US vs CA exchange rate ) 2- Friendly with all Australian young workers We were there last year also in March , were not much snow compared with CA Mammoth, but 2019 just before that ugly virus exploded, we were there in January and oh boy ! cold , cold cold but beautiful with all Christmas decorations still there , and Snow Ghost run really something, awesome, you skied all over places

Yes, we really enjoyed Big White and visiting with the Australia workers and guests. We are trying to ski as many beautiful places as possible! We are in Italy’s Dolomites now - Words cannot describe the beauty of these mountains. Zermatt was my favorite scenic resort, but the Dolomites will be in a tie for favorite!
