I love love LOVE this show. It's 100% why I am WHO I AM. From my obsession with horror and werewolves to Merton being my fashion & decor inspiration. I will never understand why this show wasn't as popular as the other spooky kid & teen shows that were out at the time. Sure it's cheesy at times but, like you said - that's a part of its charm! I always consider any fan of Big Wolf my friend....so hi new friend!

I have to agree with your gripe about Season 3 and how Merton centric it became. Apparently, the show was cancelled after Season 2 but fans online set up a petition; after getting a bunch of signatures the network decided to bring it back for one more season. The 3rd season was run by the fans and so they had a say in what they wanted to see with the episodes. Since Merton was the fan favourite a lot of the episodes revolved around him.

This is literally the first show I fell in love with. The characters, the atmosphere, the excitement. Not skipping an episode on TV was a priority.

Wow, somebody mentioning The Tribe! Now that’s a show I haven’t thought of since I watched it as a kid! And it’s crazy to me that someone hasn’t seen Buffy, Supernatural or X-Files. I like all those shows and have all of them on DVD. In fact I’m in the middle of marathoning Supernatural with my wife and we’ve both been hooked.

I have this show and the Wallace and Gromit movie to thank for getting me interested in shapeshifting and werecreatures since I remember going on a number of different websites to look up transformations in movies, comics, animations and tv shows and I definitely remember watching it on Fox Kids over in the UK (it was usually on after Power Rangers, or around the same time slot as Goosebumps) and definitely it was because of this movie that I found about The Lost Boys and Cat People (1982). And yes the episodes with the two Coreys are among my favorites next to the spider-people (it's memorable because of the weight gain that happens to Merton, and the creepy spider-people in general), and also Mannchurian werewolf arc. And I definitely recall seeing Brandon Quinn as a Blutbad (wolf-like Wesen) in an episode of Grimm. And yes love the homages and tributes to all the horror movies. Merton is the reason why I wanted to go goth. And yes...the 'what happened in the movie' joke, that's a joke I pretty much use in my stuff sometimes too (and also the 'pizza's here' joke from the Manchurian Werewolf, I remember using that one a lot). As someone who is heavily fascinated with monsters and transformations...this was my very first introduction to horror and I am proud to be a fan. Also definitely the second time Corey Feldman would actually play a vampire considering he was in Bordello of Blood. And yes, yes...yes, oh yes the phobia eating vampire episode, and also Lori's ex-boyfriend coming back from the dead as a zombie (and of course there's a sort of reference to Thriller because the music played in the fight against the zombies sounds exactly like Thriller, and also the second MJ/Thriller reference because in the Werewolf teacher episode Tommy is dressed as Michael in the Thriller video during the 80's dance scene).

i literally watch all 3 seasons every single year. my fiancee enjoys it too, going on 6 consecutive years and it never gets old wish they make a revamped show where tommys son is the werewolf it would be so cool

This show reminds me of Strange Days at Blake Holsey High. Not exactly the same, but both are Canadian made and have a “something of the week” format. But I do know BH has a continuous storyline. Another good show that only got one season is Tower Prep (it came on Cartoon Network in 2010 for once season). It’s more of a teen drama with comedic elements, where these kids have gifts and are taken to the school and they try and figure out the secrets of the school. I feel both of these are up your alley.

Good review man.I love this show my second favorite werewolf media after 1987 werewolf series. I watched the show from the time it premiered. From 5th to 7th grade they made episodes and I watched them. And when I was in. 8th grade I watched reruns. But when I got to high school they took it off the air. I didn’t get to watch it again until I was in my twenty’s. But I own it on dvd now. Of course I had to make my own copy cause it hasn’t had an official release. I don’t know why the only song is the theme song and Merton sings it. I’m sure he would love it to be on dvd. My favorite episodes 1. Pilot 2 fangs for the memories 3, bookmobile 4. Really adore your reviews of these obscure but much loved cult cartoons & live actions shows. I found your channel from your Biker Mice From Mars review. That was one of my favourite shows in 1993 as a then 5 year old. I really enjoyed it, Big Wolf On Campus was a very nostalgic series to me, being a monster loving canadian, it was a staple for me. Goosebumps, Are You Afraid Of The Dark?, Tales From The Cryptkeeper, Freaky Stories, Buffy The Vampire Slayer (You really should seek it out, its my favourite!), etc. Other shows like Beast Wars, ReBoot, The Tick, The Mighty Ducks, The Mask, Spiderman, X-men, etc. I would love to see you review The Tribe. Its a series i never heard of as a kid but found out about it in my 20s & devoured the entire run. Really stoked to see your opinion on it man. Please keep up the stellar work!

I'm late to the party, but man is this show a VIBE. A true example of an era, a mood from early 00's that feels so pervasive I would place it in that time-frame even though I actually haven't ever seen it! I did watch Buffy back in the day, and I can see how this would probably be sorted into a "Buffy rip-off" folder, but it's sheer commitment to being cheesy feels like it protects it from veering too far into serious subject matter they do not have the budget or ability to portray. Funnily enough, I DO believe I've experienced it in some way- but NOT through the TV show itself, but through Livejournal roleplay communities I used to hang out in during the 00's- I think some people actually played the leads in one game I was part in, and even back then there was no denying the boys were the most popular pairing. Also- I was only mildly aware of the Tribe, but I do remember Round the Twist- for some reason australian / new zeeland children's television is SO prevalent in Nordic European country television. Round the Twist and Mirror Mirror being shows I particularly remember.

"My babysitter is a vampire" a psychic kid, his incompetent wizard best friend, and vampire crush fight monsters. The monsters are actually pretty creative. My favorite episode is the one where a demonic druid tree grew into the school fiber optic cables and evolves into a supernatural computer virus who posses a vampire side character and want to tear down the human world to create a new forest.
