I recently got into fishing. Yesterday, I caught my first largemouth bass by throwing in a Texas rig with a 7" dark green senko from shore. It was a bit rainy and water was not clear at all but the fish aggressively went for it. Awesome.

Congratulations now your hooked, you'll learn that a boat stands for Bust Out Another Thousand and that a boat is a hole in the water you throw your money into, you will also learn that women are not just jealous of one another, and you may even learn that divorce is caused by four letter words and its not any of the four lettered words your thinking of right now, lol, boat, bass, fish, reel, pole, line, bait, hook, etc. Etc. How big was this first bass?

@@highjenks3d bro. U either have been there or there as I type. Anyways you hit the nail perfectly. I've been having a false river tournament thrown in my face at every opportunity from months ago bc I simply entered the tournament. Even tho we had no plans. They just want us to sit home and ROT with them bc they won't get out in the heat and fish. " it's too hot" .. stop being a pussy and fish! Or stay home. Women hate everything that excludes them. Going this morning. Using a 10 inch Green Pumpkin Senko worm 5/0 EWG hook. 1/4 Tungsten slider with two red beads to protect the knot. Been using a 8 inch Red Shad twister tail too. That Red Shad produces on a 3/0 EWG. The bass inhale the 3/0 hook. Never even feel the hook. Then Bam! They stay on! Good luck out there. Wear your sun screen too. Shawn.

I'm not smoking 10's but thank you. People don't know that being on the lake means you gotta learn the lake. I'm going to Okojobi, Iowa in september. Now I get to see if I can break a lake down in a different ecosystem all together...

My main issue with worming this time of year, being a pond hopper all my bodies of water are inundated with that nasty slimy grass. Near impossible to fish without dragging all that slime every cast.
@DavidBronstein19613 жыл бұрын
I hear you… at my fav local pond in the Spring, I’m throwing jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, etc and slaying them. Yesterday only thing I could throw was a toad or frog. Not that I’m complaining….Always fun to catch em on those. But yes, that green slime makes worm fishing near impossible.
@tagg9463 жыл бұрын
thats when i downsize my weight and use a lighter wire hook, unless its super windy. it really helps your bait sit on the tops of thick algae instead of dig into it. you do have to fish slower, and its a total pain when its 90 degrees, but man it makes a world of difference.

@treyferguson29653 жыл бұрын
They work awesome whacky rigged in spring time. Or rigged like the old school floating worm, in other words dont put weight on, and rig em kind of crooked. You can make them trick worms do some crazy shit. Guess that's why they call em trick worms. I hate fishing both of those ways but when that bite is on seems the more crazy a color you use the better and I'm no fool. I'll tie one on with the rest of em. Methoirlate catches tanks every year. Yellow will too. Hell if you can catch em on a bright bubblegum pink worm, they'll hit yellow ones to. My dad use to smoke me on these worms he had that smelled like bananas . Had some that was solid yellow and some that were black and yellow. Straight up weedless worm hook with the wire guard no weight on 8 pound mono, and he killed me with those things. He just ran out of what seemed like a never ending supply of them couple years ago, and he wanted me to find him some. Luckily for me I can't seem to find any lol.

Hey what bait and technique should I use as a bank fisherman who fishes a reservoir with a lot of grass on the bottom? There are some places where it’s rocky but for the most part there is grass unless you cast past it far out. Any suggestions?
@firghteningtruth71733 жыл бұрын
Anything weedless is probably your best bet, unless you know how deep the grass starts. In that case you could use a lipped bait that dives and just run it over the top of the grass. But, honestly? A texas rig almost always works. Super simple, catches like crazy... Turn the hook into the bait to make it weedless and you wont have too much issue with grass. Its a solid choice.

It all depends. If you are fishing 10ft plus then use a weight. If your fishing grass, fish weightless. Basically weightless is for shallower water.

Whats your leader setup for Texas rig? Fluorocarbon? Pound Test? and Knots? (Braid to leader and leader to worm)? I love worm fishing here in central Texas. Usually just use straight braid and polomar knot and usually works, but would like to try leader. Thank you guys so much for all you’ve done and do to help us catch more and bigger fish! Best wishes to you! 🎣👍👌✌️
@ScuffedEngineer3 жыл бұрын
They use either mono or FC Shock leaders, they want the stretch in the leader to not break off, about 2 rod lengths long and a blood knot for connection. FC I think Tim would be using a SDJ knot, otherwise I think they do polomars, honestly though it's whatever you do cause a good tied knot you know is better than a good knot tied wrong. Pound test and links are found in the description.

How do you see the difference between a peged Texas rig and a shaky head.
@bkbaitsal43893 жыл бұрын
I throw both, there are two things I can see, the line tie on the Shakey Head and the way a Shakey Head comes through grass. Texas rig goes through grass and algae way better. Those are the only difference I see when fishing. In rocks and hard bottom either one is good I think.
