Matt: "For the guy that doesn't want to dive down this rabbit hole with me..." . Roughly 99 percent of viewers: "Rabbit hole, rabbit hole, rabbit hole!" . :-) . Seriously, I think that presenting the "why" behind the simple "use this head" in such a logical and eloquent manner is part of what sets Tactical Bassin apart from so many others on KZbin. Once you dive down that Rabbit Hole you see not only the various paths to success that are available to you, you also gain an appreciation of how much research and trial and error goes into these instructional videos. Thanks as always for a great presentation, Matt, and I hope you and Tim have a fantastic time tackle-geeking at ICAST.

Next video: you bankfishing with Sierra! My favorite all-time fishing memory is bank-fishing with my son when he was 8 years old on a small private pond at a house we were renting on the Maryland shore. I brought all this saltwater gear, caught nothing all week. But every day we went to that pond early evening, caught HUGE bass on small spinnerbaits and Senkos. And that Culprit curly tail bait also slayed. It ignited a passion for fishing in my son that he has to this day. And he still kicks my ass nearly every outing throwing those Senkos while I am switching out baits every 5 minutes. Great vid, will definitely help me dial in my shaky head approach.

My introduction to bass fishing as a teenager was the Texas rigged Culprit curly tail worm. And they are still a staple today at 50. I think you could probably rig them hookless and still land fish. Not saying I don't fish other worms, but I just have a huge amount of confidence in Culprit products.

I'm always curious as to when you choose a shaky vs a Texas rig? Seems a pegged tx rig is basically the same thing? How do you choose which to throw under what conditions?
@YaMutha21692 жыл бұрын
Shakeyheads will stand up a worm much better naturally, pegged Texas rig comes through heavy cover far better, but does not quite do as good for standing up a worm, but will definitely help. Unpegged and small hops will let the worm separate from the weight and sink down slowly. Hope this helps!
@laprice85092 жыл бұрын
I use a Texas rig more for covering water, like a search bait, and the shakes head I use for isolated targets, hope this helps
@hunternixonfishing25002 жыл бұрын
Depending on what worm you throw you can still simulate the same action with a pegged Texas rig as you would a shakey head. For example one of my favorite worms on a Texas rig is the Z-man bang stickz and because of the buoyancy of the ZMan plastic I can get that worm to stand up on a pegged Texas rig as I would if I fished it on a shakey head

love the video thank you. i have fallen in love with the shaky head and use it often. One private lake I fish has giant fish in it. I caught an 8lber last month. I also have the 852 NRX+ rod that I use most oftern. Problem is that I have lost 3 giants while using that rod and the canterbury head. it has not broken but i obviously did not get enough of the hook in them. My question is should I go to a heavier rod to be able to work those fish and get better hook sets? Those big fish I have never felt like I had control of them while fighting. 2 this year were potential double digit fish that have just come off. thank you again, love the videos.
