The version I look at features lip-synced video taken from rehearsals and another performance. I also briefly discuss a version by Christina Aguilera. For educational purposes only. James Brown proudly wore his title The Godfather Of Soul. And if anyone didn't think an 11 year old Norwegian girl could match that same amount of soul after hearing and seeing this, are seriously kidding themselves. No theatrics or wearing capes and falling to the stage to mimick the Godfather, just pure unabashed Super soulful raw talent of Angelina Jordan. Thank you, Mr. Walker for showcasing AJ at her best.

I appreciate your admiration and ability to root out Angelina Jordan‘s talent and I was impressed enough to send your review of her to a friend of mine who lives in Africa. I was trying to get him to see how magnificent her voice is singing this song 🎶 but it wasn’t until I saw your video that I realize that it is so much better than just watching her sing on stage, that was more of a hollow sound, whereas you bring it out so it’s a personal up close powerful sound. I remember I think at a music awards, they had AJ sing their and she had a heavy head cold. Her mum told Angelina you don't have to sing. Angelina told her mum, There is no way I am not going to sing their. She just persevered with her voice a little when she sang. She was only 8 or 9 years old.

Just secured two tickets for the July 10th concert! I was so bummed about the dates, which makes it pretty hard for me to get there. But I figured that if you can fly in from Hawaii and other people from mainland US, I should be able to navigate my sailboat around the Norwegian coast by way of Denmark and Sweden to Sandefjord. So that’s what I’ll do. Great job on this video! The audio only version from the Kongsberg Jazz Festival is indeed the best. Angelina’s singing is very similar, save from a few phrases, but the band is marvellous. (I could go on for minutes about that brilliant pentatonic/blues/chromatic scale guitar solo that is at once jazz, blues and heavy metal (if distortion was added), but I’ll spare you the rant this time.) The Kongsberg Jazz Festival is top notch, and it very much makes sense to use the same band on the 1st and 10th of July as the 7th. Hopefully they have booked musicians that are worthy of sharing the stage with Angelina. The very best, that is.

This is also my favorite of her renditions of this song. What a powerhouse! 12 year old. Looking forward to experience the growth of her voice in this direction! Her breath control is next level. In 2 months we will probably know.

I have listened to Rock and Metal all my life, so I love this one when she is using power. Great video. This is perfectly put together. I now like this song even better than I did. I am still under the Angelina spell. I will see everything she does for the rest of my life. She is next level, as you said. She really is. Looking forward too being at concerts with her.

I know James Brown is a living legend but he has never been my kind of singer and I loved this song since angelina covered it and I believe she sang it even better than the original but I believe the best version of this song by angelina is the audio version thank u Chris for such wonderful close shot video 👍👍💙💙💙

Your comp was a labor of love to be sure. I always appreciated having the audio only version from her official channel simply because it can be heard without interruption, and her concert with the Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps, recorded by Boris Palenovski, is golden just to be able to see her perform. Her use of hand gestures, as you point out, and her curtsy alone are worth the price. Although I am not sure if you included links, but "Oslo" and "Speak Softly Love," recorded by a fan at the Kongsberg concert, are worth the view.

I'm so glad you did this. It really reveals what she can do with this song and I have never heard it done better. Not only that but, it also shows how the musicians are drawn in and bring their "A" game. Although, I'm also flummoxed (yeah, that's the word) by the fact that they don't actually forget what they are supposed to do and just fall into that world she creates. Can you imagine being a part of that? I suppose it depends on the way you handle life, in general, that you may pine for the loss or celebrate the memory, when she moves on to the "next big thing" as she progresses through life. I can hardly believe our good fortune in being able to witness this.

As Boris also said, this is the best band she has played with. I think they played together at the Kongsberg concert and also her Christmas tour in 2017(??). Really hope there will be a good band in Kongsberg and Sandefjord this summer. In the last concert I attended at Prøysenhuset I think she had deserved a better band, at least in the last half of the concert. She was exceptional, with a better band the concert would have been a legendary one.

I also owe you an apology, because I bad-mouthed your mashup of Eva Cassidy and Angelina doing “Fields of Gold”, because the English reactor thought Angelina was singing a duet with Eva’s recording, and taken out of context I said it was a poorly synchronized mashup. It was only when I checked the description that I realized it was your mashup, which sounded great with your introduction.

So Chris, can you tell us where you got the bonus footage of the concert with the actual guitar solo with Angelina next to the superb guitar player in the rehearsal at the Kongsberg concert...would love to see all of that footage as a huge Angel fan. None of the links you posted show this particular part of the rehearsal video....went through all of them.

I should have made this more clear: The footage of the band members and Angelina standing with the guitarist is almost entirely from a rehearsal for "Miss Lonely." If you go the original video (the lip sync video I made) and you look at the links in the description there, I have a link to that rehearsal. Also if you look on the Fanclub Mosarz the video is called "Rehearsal: Lonely" I believe. They just use the word "lonely" without miss or mister.

Great video Chris. You do put the work in. You are right that this version is cleaner and easier to hear but I must say I still prefer the Oslo concert version. For me, even with the poorer sound, it is harder and edgier and more emotional, and that's what this song is about.

Being bored, I decided to watch some videos. I saw AJ's latest, a snipit of this song, and lacking diction, it was very nice and soulful. So, I listened to all the female singers, Christina A.wasn't too bad, Charlotte Summers is really good, I don't like Celine, and I stopped to listen to AJ at what, ELEVEN????? Oh my goodness, that was incredible from a child. Anyway, then I saw your video and thought I'd stop by!!!!! After dinner, I'll probably come back and watch!!!
