Dada is from Dadaism, a satirical art movement formed in negative reaction to the horrors of WWI. Doom is synonymous with destruction. The nuclear bomb, apes, and skeletons symbolize the extinction of humankind. It's a metaphor for how the world [mass media] tries to destroy a person's individuality, but their art will be preserved and used to inspire future generations (the apes discover a mic = T.O.P's music). The giant baby is the innocence of his artistic integrity. IDK the lyrics but this was my interpretation of the MV!

I don’t understand Korean people and idols, as far as I know, they never take TOP as their role model or idol of their music career or rap world. But, they follow TOP’s path, and transforming underground rapper to idol rapper. Right?! Tho he actually IS a son of a rich and influential family, both in military and the arts. His father is high ranking military official, so it's rare to see him in public or photos with his family, while on his mother's side he has three known elders who are influential traditional artists in SK, one of them is Kim Whanki, pioneer of Korean abstract painting, whose painting you can see in this music video itself. Even everyone in his own family studied arts. Apparently T.o.p being in the entertainment industry was his form of rebelling back then. But as you can see in his works, he was able to reconcile his artistic roots and passion in music when he got older. That's just heartwarming.

HERE'S AN EXPLAINATION ON THE VIDEO! : Doom Dada is a reference to Dadaism, a form of fine art. Doom Dada means that the end of art (music in this case) is coming, due to the fact that most everyone cares about money. Now, onto the video, which references many influential films and artists. At about 0:53 we see T.O.P with a eyepatch-like object covering his eye, referencing the film The Leper. At 1:06 we see the skeletons moving, referencing the Zootrope, the first way animation came to be. At 1:38 we see a large painting made by Kim Whanki (one of the first modern artists) In the painting is a deer, which we see a real one interacting with T.O.P, meaning he is trying to connect himself to important artists. At 2:02 it is referencing the Blair Witch Project, one of the first modern horror films. At 2:14 we see a large headed baby, referencing the film Brazil. At 2:53, T.O.P is referencing not only the film the Cabinet of Dr Caligori, but his handlebar mustache is also referencing one of the modern art pioneers, Salvador Dali. At 3:03, he is referencing the film 2001 a Space Odysey. At 3:15, he is referencing the film Dr. Strangelove. This is an incredible song and video, going out of the average k-pop music video bounds. This is truly a beautiful examination, but I heard two different things, and/or interpreted something different. I thought & heard that "Doom Da Da" was referring to the public itself. This clicked to me since after he repeats "Doom Da Da Divi Da" he shouts "march," which feels like he's trying to mention how the society is just marching along with what they see in the mass media. Also, about the modern art, you did say T.O.P is trying to include himself with art itself, but when that painting is shown he sings "I'm a 21st century (modern) Korean." In this scene "T.O.P was dressed in a modern way, and even showed a modern brand. Your examination is wonderful, and shows how this song isn't just a mindless beat. T.O.P is showing how he embraces and feels about this culture and the past. How it is controlling people, and how it affects him in a way!

Thanks for this comment, just wanted to write that. It think this is one of the best tracks, and MVs, in K-pop. I am amazed how they planned harmonics on simple syllables in the chorus. Featured this track in my 2014 thesis. Interesting that the groups of that time mostly vanished and trends developed differently that I've been predicting.

Seunghyun is one of the best rappers I've seen in the kpop community, Not only because of his Amazing rap skills but also because of his uniqueness and his love for art. He always stood out to me even when i watched their mv's for the first time, he has such a strong voice and his whole style/vibe just draws me in, I always look forward to his parts in their songs he also has amazing stage presence that i haven't seen in anyone ever. My first impression of him was that he's weird and just intimidating (which i liked ig) but when i got to know him i realised that he's the biggest sweetheart still weird but in a good way his weirdness is what makes him unique. Love you T.O.P, I will wait for you until whenever.
