i liked leonard in the early seasons a lot, since it also showed his intellectual side, it showed that hes also a well respected scholar in his field. during the later seasons, everything about him involved penny or sheldon, his identity as a scientist was lost. they should have showed more of his work side

Unfortunately, that has a tendency of happening when you have so many characters and so many different ideas for stories involving them… Things get lost in the whole shuffle and it gets very messy. It’s part of the reason why so many people felt unsatisfied with certain things that happened - especially in the later seasons. One of the best examples being the whole thing with Raj and how he never ended up with anybody, which a lot of people have mixed feelings about. It’s definitely happened in other sitcoms too where they have a large ensemble of main characters and popular side characters - Friends and How I Met Your Mother being another pair of popular examples.

@@withjust-a-bite1396 yeah true, and this is exactly why big bang theory peaked before bernadette and amy joined the show, like i go and rewatch the first season or the first couple of seasons and their incredibly funny, sheldon is not a total d*ck, it makes sense why the other 3 hangout with him, the main plot is the interaction of genius socially awkward scientists interacting with the world, and we get an insight into their lives and can really connect with the characters. later on, everything became repetitive where every new ep someone has a problem with their girl, it became boring as hell sometimes.

YES. Also, it was really pathetic on Chuck Lorre’s part to make him seem so pathetic. I always felt that the show would’ve been better if Leonard had been written as a sarcastic character who’s SLIGHTLY less nerdy than the rest of the guys. He could’ve/should’ve been the sarcastic character of the show. The Chandler Bing of TBBT.

At first, I thought Leonard was nerdy, geeky and dweeby, but, after a while, he began to grow on me. Him wanting to be more outgoing, sociable, not wanting to be seen as a nerd or geek and willing to try new things made me admire him and take a liking towards him.

Leonard was BY FAR the most annoying and tiring character on the show and it is probably mostly due to the writers insisting on putting he and Penny together!! With all the insecurity, jealousy and pathetic pandering with her, it was basically Ross & Rachel 2.0 and I think Ross may be one of the most annoying character on TV! not to mention they both bathed in hypocrisy for most of the run of their series!

Look like many I love the show and it’s often on repeat along with ‘Friends’ & ‘The Office’ & ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ for comfort viewing, but I have to admit I really can’t stand the character of Sheldon. For me personally he was thee worst part of the show which is ironic considering that for many he was the reason they watched the show in the first place. But for me he just always came off as a jackass all the way to the Finale where he literally made everyone want to go home and abandon him to receive his award alone, there was no character growth. The line by Bernie “Sheldon doesn’t know he’s being mean cus the side that should know is getting wedgied by the side that shouldn’t” or something to that affect. The character was always an annoyance and in all the clips and compilations they all show him being an Ass to everyone. Idk why but people find that funny and say it’s part of his “Charm” and say it like he’s a kid who doesn’t know better and has an undiagnosed mental disability (Which has been confirmed to NOT be the case) to me that’s ridiculous AF he’s a grown ass man only perceived to be a child cus of how he dresses but in all he’s just a jack ass and was the worst part of the show.

This show lost its credibility and dynamic after season 4. The Amy character is a burden and strain on the concept of the show. It simply was whipped away when she came on the scene.
