While I don't despise The Last Jedi like several people do, it is a film that gets worse every time I watch it. I don't even mind that it's being "subversive", I hate that it shoots down every interesting plot thread The Force Awakens introduced without replacing it with anything interesting. Bad as the Rise of Skywalker is, this film didn't really give a lot of storylines to build off of, which is why RoS pulled so many things out of its ass (that, and it was notoriously rushed). The excellent acting and glimpses of beautiful cinematography keep me from fully hating the Last Jedi, and I can respect it for taking some pages out of Knights of the Old Republic 2 for its themes, but there are so many missteps along the way that it still ends up being a bad movie.
