Bosky, I'm pausing the video at 5.51 where you're talking about the mechanical clatter of the Himmy. It is so good to hear someone like you point it out. The mechanical clatter of the REs is a thing they should've paid a bit more attention to when designing a brand new engine in todays day and age. Agreed that its not a problem (as pointed out in one of your previous videos), but something that gives the himmy an unrefined feel. As always... love the content you put out together with CK. Hats off gents.

I would not call it frequent. Most engines burn some oil and need a top every few thousand kms. Harder and heavier the usage, the more the oil burn. I've nit come across anything unusual on any well maintained KTM.

I got the scrambler 400x a month ago and yesterday did my first ride of 250kms, mostly highway (Bengaluru to Krishnagiri Dam with breakfast stop at Murugan's), I was riding at an average of 80-90kmph and even pushed it till 110-120 and still felt it has enough juice left to push it further. It was really comfortable to ride, even the pillion preferred it over Honda CB350's. I enjoyed the ride and the bike has performed way better than I expected. Some nitpicks: Rear braking isn't good, headlights are weak, needs bigger windscreen for higher speeds.

Hello Both, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this 400cc lineup. Being a 'less than 1 month' owner of the Scrambler, it was good to see your consideration of its features which was rather than a validation, more of a vindication of my ability to judge my motorcycles well/ So thanks again. Coming to what I'd improve on the Scram - 1. Fuel tank - ~14L with a usable capacity of ~11L is a pittance. I'd prefer a usable tank size of 14-15L 2. Brakes - Organic brakes for scrambling while 95% of the customer base would be using this on the tarmac. Easy to switch to sintered, but a gremlin nevertheless. 3. Headlight - lots of light leakage. The low beam focuses right at the front tire and no definition to the throw & focus. 4. Gearing - 1st gear is non-existent/very short, only useful to bring the motorcycle into momentum rather than actually accelerate substantially. I'd prefer gears 2-6 to actually be 1-5 & wish there was another above the current 6th for the highways. 5. Tire noise - 5th gear 4-5K RPM & onwards, I hear the distinct tire whine you generally hear from load bearing trucks/lorries on the highway. I'm assuming it's a characteristic of the tire in particular; nevertheless wish it wasn't there to poison the bass-y thump from the exhaust. I'm staying off from mentioning about the engine/tappet noise seeing that I'm yet to complete the first service; I've heard from other owners that the noise dies down significantly after service, so looking forward to that. Thanks again!

Just what a somewhat informed enthusiast is looking for right now … speak volumes about how no script can compete with just real simple experience 😊👏🙌 oh almost forgot .. from what I know so far I’m super envious of the reviews the triumph is getting in regards to the fit and finish and engine refinement … but sadly I’m just not that into retros … oh what if they launch a mini tiger ?!?! 😮😮😮😅

Hello Bosky and CK, recently I did a test drive of Scrambler 400X and absolutely loved the ride & handling, ergonomics, and chassis balance. But hated the throttle control as most of the time it was like an on or off feeling with the bike jerking, not at all progressive. Could it be particular for that test drive vehicle or is it the case with the Scrambler 400X? I currently own a Hunter 350 and was thinking of upgrading to 400X due to Hunter’s stiff rear suspension having terrible effect on its ride & handling.
@bigbearbangalore5 күн бұрын
Hello. Coming from the Hunter, the 400X throttle will feel snatchy and abrupt. That’s how it is and you’d need to get used to that and adapt to a different level of right wrist rotation modulation.

Was really confused which one to buy. Because heart was set on RE Himalayan 450 and head was set on Scrambler 400. In the end heart won over head got home Himalayan. Simply could not ignore the road presence of the Himmie. And being a RE owner from past 14 years (Thunderbird) i chose to be one loyal to RE. Thank you Bosky and CK for detailed review on Himalayan which made me chose the same.

Triumph Scrambler 400X-because of it's lower weight & it's overall size. Automatically it's the easiest one to manage off road especially in difficult conditions. It would inspire confidence. Also it's retro look & it seems to produce good torque throughout the rev range.

Even though the last 5 min may seem scripted, the very candid nature of this video brings out very apt review of bikes across multiple factors. I own g310gs and I personally feel suspension is the best, as good as himalayan but most importantly the weight and agility of the bike compliments the suspension setting more. Took me some time to get used to the vibrations since I moved up from Honda Unicorn. Given the competitor bikes in segment it is like calculating the average of all the specs, except the price. But if I were to upgrade, I would go for something in 650-750 segment considering the exposure this bike gave.

I like the natural dynamics & casual approach you both present. Good job. I have a deposit down on a Himalayan 450 & eagerly await its arrival here in Australia late this month or next. Though I am concerned by the weight, I cant see where it comes from, I would have expected 10kg lighter at least. Highway vibration is the other concern, this is why the Dual Sports I have don't fit me for longer trips. A comment would be nice, I only need 115kph to get me down those highways I can't avoid. Cheers from Downunder
@bigbearbangalore10 ай бұрын
Thanks. There is a buzz on the H450 at highway speeds and it's not intrusive. And it can run at 140 kmph all day so the 115 will be quite comfortably accomplished.

@@bigbearbangaloreCheers, do you still believe the 4500-6500 vibe bandwidth. So if I gear for 110kph cruise at 7000rpm ?
@bigbearbangalore10 ай бұрын
There's no intrusive vibes at any rpm. I don't notice it or feel it anymore so any speed is ok for me to cruise peacefully. 4000 to 7000 rpm band is the best range.

Deeply appreciate you both for a unbiased detailed analysis ❤. I own adventure 390 and I am very happy with my purchase. The fully adjustable ktm suspension especially for the rear costs 7200 which greatly improves ride comfort and absorbs everything brilliantly after softening it. Front suspension costs 22k and make little difference compared to rear suspension which makes a huge difference. I haven't ridden the new Himalayan 450 and wonder how it compares to the Himalayan massive suspension. Anyways appreciate your detailed knowledge sir's 😁👏

I don't have much experience riding these motorcycles, but with the limited amount of experience, I agree with most of the points that you guys said. Love these opinion videos about a bunch of the best middle-weight advs that are currently available in our country. I just wish the Honda NX500 and the Hero's upcoming Xpulse 400 were also here to complicate things for you guys. 😂 Triumph Scrambler 400x would be my choice for everything I would require a bike for as it is the perfect blend between ADV and a road-biased motorcycle, but the only thing that I am not very sure about is the service network and the service cost by itself when compared to much pocket-friendly service costs provided by brands like Ktm and Honda. But on the other hand, I am really looking forward to the next-gen Ktm 390 or 250 Adv with the updated design with changes to the engine setup with a much better low-end torque. I don't know when on Earth I will be financially good enough to buy a good bike, but when I do I wish that I could sit down with you and help me choose a motorcycle tailored to my needs. A good video as always.

You touched on a lot of categories - also very good. The one question I wish you would have considered is 2UP Pillion Riding - which bike would make the best 2UP Touring Bike?? I assume it is the Himalayan 450 or possibly the Scrambler 400X - please let us know. I need a bike that can do it all, Touring and 2UP Touring/Long Distances over smooth tarmac and badly maintained roads. I think the Himalayan 450? Also, which one can support the most weight 2UP??? Thank-you so much.

I have an SYM 200 in Kenya that I've been very pleased with. It makes me very happy, and I just want more of that kind of thing. I want better suspension, seat comfort, ergonomics, parts/reliability, aftermarket options, luggage, and style. My head gasket has already blown at 5,500 km, but I'm very fond of it. I ride around the country and it's very relaxing and pleasing as my first motorcycle. For me a 310GS would be higher quality, better riding (especially with rally raid parts), better accessories, more power. I would really like to know what you would pick the BMW for, because you sounded quite positive about it then picked it for nothing. I just want a good all arounder that I can travel down rough dirt roads to get home on or go three hours on a highway with speed bumps on and be totally comfortable once I hit Nairobi traffic. I think it looks nice. For me, I just don't love the KTM orange or sitting on top of a dirt bike feel. Otherwise, I appreciate it a lot. Harley triumph, they're not here... maybe the enfield, but it just doesn't make me as excited as the looks on the GS. I think I want to experience BMW design also. I would love to have heard more information about the GS. Anyone's comments would be very welcome. Seemed like other than cost and high frequency vibration there was no downside. I wonder if there is an aftermarket damper for the vibes? Or an aftermarket seat? I noticed on the KTM there is a seat pad
@bigbearbangalore8 ай бұрын
The high frequency intrusive vibes keeps me away from the 310GS. In all other aspects the motorcycle is quite good.
