I have a adv 390 and i have done 10k kms on it, I dont understand why people complain about stalling it hasn't stalled once unless it is ridden on the 3rd gear at 10 kmph, we have to understand how the ktm engines are meant to be ridden
@cruise4224 Жыл бұрын
I agree. Rider needs to bring the motorcycle to right gear and accelerate. I feel this automatically happens once you understand the machine. Having said that, the knocking sound in KTM when I test rode it is irritating( unless it is specific to the bike I rode)

@@vishaalpamulapati7035People complain because the problem has plagued many 390 Adventure owners as well as BS6 390 Duke owners. The most common fixes were replacement of the clutch lever switch and cleaning (and sometimes replacement) of the throttle body. It was fixed for a friend of mine after he got a new throttle body.

I own a 390 ADV. The side by side image is definitely striking how much more ground clearance the 450 has. The 450 is also a very attractive bike. I am not a fan of the 390's parrot beak. I bought the 390 because of the huge value at the time. I believe 450 has closed the value gap. If I was chosing today it would be the 450, however the 2025 390 Adv looks to have best of both worlds.

Very true...buzz shouldn't be mistaken for Vibration.. in city conditions heat is a given. Rode them both back to back on same city stretch. Felt Himalayan tiring to ride in city as it's clutch is relatively harder but it was faster due to better initial torque, thus needed more shifting and breaking. Repeated over again, it was tiring. Also it felt ungainly big in city traffic. Found KTM needed less work as it stayed slotted in lower gears. Also felt KTM was more sedate and lighter thus safer in city's thick traffic conditions.

I've set my mind on the Himalayan. I'm moving up from a 180cc Apache BS4. And I feel that the vibration and heat on the Himmy is significantly less. My hand sometimes tingles after long rides on my Apache, especially if I'm holding the RPM between 4500-5500 ( I took it to multiple service centres and enquired, apparently the 180cc carburettor engine is just buzzy in general). The engine heats up quite a bit in traffic too.

Suspension, heat, mileage, vibrations nd engine noise etc etc. Just as you said .. its normal to have these for this segment, nd to be honest, the vibrations are way lesser than what ive expected. No issues while riding the lower RPMs (yes the engine feels smooth past 3200rpm) As a downside i only felt the switches positions Im 6.1 the riding position js quite neutral. But but when you stand up l, the handle bar feels to be a bit low for my liking. ! Nd im enjoying the new Himi as people calling it. Ive been using the 90 STD 350 for the last 15+ years

But the GS felt lighter, no nimble, more torqy and handled better atleast in the city. I don't know if it's just me...
@VN11Prod Жыл бұрын
If you see it on paper Himalayan has more Torque. GS is light yes but light in power too. Himalaya is heavy but doesn't feel heavy while driving. Himalayan will be pocket friendly to maintain. On the other side GS has high maintenance, BMW charges a premium for everything Main thing - You can get Himalayan fixed anywhere in India due to service network but that's not the case with BMW GS 310. Himalayan is still value for money. GS is like buying an iPhone IFKYK

@@VN11Prod But he's hardly ever hard to spend anything on the GS so far except for 7K for the service every year. His is a 2019 model. On the other hand I spend close to 20k+ every year on my 2016 Thunderbird. And yeah, might be that the weight isn't felt while we are out on the highway with the Himalayan, but I definitely felt the weight in stop and go city traffic. I was dead set in getting the Himalayan seeing all the specs on paper and took the test drive just for the confirmation. But now looking at second hand lightly used GS's which is comparable and even less at times.

Yes the seat is a Ballsquashky😂, me being light set and riding in my jeans which do not let me grip the tank well. The pillion footrests are too high set I felt. Like you rightly said the engines are very similar in character. Overall I am a happy owner of adv 390 mainly because of the seat, the light weight and rhe pillion comfort.For the mild trails and tours I take,19 inch wheels work just fine. What should you recommend for me. otherwise I have to purchase CB350RS.

Good points as usual. The thing with on board display seems ridiculous. Why two screens have to be on at the same time. The integration of a display for navigation in the bike is to reduce the effort of our phones. But the display to be on always just puts the navigation on the dash a useless feature. The thing with plugging in the phone onboard while riding to compensate for the battery drain is just the way things are right now. Our phones have a huge display more information expert navigation so the cluster advertising as a good feature seems off😅

Your reviews are to the point. I have a question - I have 2019 electra bs4(22000km), recently on a tour to east & north Sikkim realised that 2 19inch wheels (Michelin tyre) with spokes and carborator is not enough to go with a group modern bikes (like Ktm 390,int 650, meteor 350,Honda 200x). Bike doesn't go beyond 100/kmph, loses lots of power in the heights. Even Honda 200x works better than my bullet. I have one advantage -seat & old handle bar which was relaxing. I don't like my foot pegs ( they are very close need them to be far) & gearing/ gear box. I am On an extreme budget. Don't want to buy a new motorcycle. But if I have to buy what bike should I buy? Requirements -I am 6feet,have rib injury/muscle pain for 15years. Want a functional ride for myself,wife and a toddler. What modifications can be made to my existing bullet? Please help out.

You are an old soul. Nothing realistic can be done. Only option is to buy a 500cc Bulllet used which is more powerful and retails all the ergo of the Bullet.

Few days ago went for KTM ADV 390 test ride, it was my first time riding a KTM engine, but experienced stalling issues. Under 20 kmph if I put the bike in 2nd gear it stalled. Had to consciously reach upwards of 20 kmph and then shift up the gear to 2nd.

@@VN11ProdYou can take a look at the chassis number to see when the bike was manufactured. Google how to decode the VIN and engine number on a Royal Enfield. You will easily find it.

Himalayan felt very intimidating in city traffic, not interms of power but its size and heft. I’m 5.6 and didn’t feel comfortable in city traffic as that’s my major part of its use. I’m used to heavy and powerful bikes including all of RE ones.. but this bike felt very different.

I just have one question did you think and analyse so much when you bought your first bike the RX100. Now this discussion has put me in Dharmasankat.

No analysis. A quick evaluation of the RX and KB and Supra and choose the RX.

Booked the Adv 390X after test riding the Himalayan, my use case is 50-50 city and highways and the Himalayan is very heavy for the city use, also the Adv being a 4 year old bike most of the manufacturing defects are already taken care of by KTM unlike the Himalayan which has a lot of first timers from RE.

@HondaRider85 Жыл бұрын
Yes .....i am looking forward to buy whenever it launches.....it will be a proper adv 390 from KTM.
@martyn_g Жыл бұрын
They can keep it. The engine is a road bike engine - you end up slipping the clutch a heap at lower speed. It likes to be revved hard. This 390 coming out is completely unnecessary- they already produce the 690, which will totally smash the so called 390 “rally’ -WP Explor suspension, lower weight, tank under your ass, and that 690 engine. It’s just KTM milking the consumer.

But why don’t they do flexible indicators like on cheap motorcycles?! This is a bad design because my right indicator broke due to saddle bag’s pressure while off road !
@bigbearbangalore Жыл бұрын
Saddle bag pressure is improper mounting of the bag. Design can't be blamed.
@abhishekkalkatte7036 Жыл бұрын
@@bigbearbangalore true accepted sir! But I still don’t see why don’t they provide a lil flexibility! Like how they give in cheaper bikes ,, is there a design road block for this I wonder! Else it’s perfectly sensible to have flexible indicators! Or may be they cost more 🤔
