Great video, what I would also do, is to bring a voltmeter with you so you can make sure that the alternator is working properly.

As a general rule, is there a certain number of hours where you say "too much?" I'm looking at a Deere 3720, which is exactly what I want, but it has 3700 hours.

#1 is the seller won't hesitate to lie right to your face. They always tell you that there are no known problems unless the problems are obvious. The whole buyer beware notion is permission for sellers to lie to you. Try and get the seller to sign a receipt stating that they are not aware of any problems if they said that. If you find out that they took it to a dealer for a repair then didn't get it done you may be able to sue them. Another thing I wish I did was put cardboard under the front end if it's sitting on a lawn or gravel. My Kioti was pristine. I looked all over underneath and was aware of a leaking bevel gear case. While I was repairing this on my garage floor I realized there is also a slight front crank seal leak. I never saw any oil underneath the engine but a quarter size spot on my floor. Of course the owner said it was "garage kept" and had absolutely "no problems".

I’m sorry I think u hv missed a major point , don’t look just at the tractor but look into the person selling it , talk to them once or twice or more even , get a sense of their integrity- if that’s intact u can be sure the tractor is as they say …
