I bought 3 of these DB55. The amp sounds great and powered my entire system by itself with 2 Polk audio 6.5's 2 Polk audio 6X9's and 1 12 inch American Bass sub. The only problem I have with this amp is none of them lasted longer than 2 years. The 5 channel that powers the sub always stop working. The last one I bought channel 4 stopped working. Of course I checked the fuses and everything. The amp sounds great and have good power to push my system however in my case they don't last. Just my 2 cents.

Hello. Great video! I work at Rockville, I'm the graphic designer. That DB55 gift box is my work. I also designed those "birth certificates", which I personally think are ridiculous (hope my bosses don't read this). Anyhow, Lukas, Lukas Louw specifically, was a well known and respected sound engineer that tested most of the preproduction samples of the amps and helped us to fine tune them. He was expensive, but well worth it. Unfortunately, he passed away in November of 2020. We learned so much from him, that after his passing, we created an in-house testing lab. Also, I agree with your comments on the K9, enough already. 'eff all the haters.

2 things to upgrade your car stereo over "the other guys and gals". 1) Use Marine quality components. They are built much better, and have to pass certification to get the marine rating. Think of how a boat must handle the chop of the water without a suspension. So Marine Eqpt. is definitely much better put together of all of the brands that make Marine stereo eqpt. It's just about every brands best offerings. 2) Always use a Line Output Converter. Specifically, a Recoil or Kicker LOC. Those are the only 2 I know and seen tested that work as they should, and do not distort your signal, but actually filter and boost your signal. By boosting your signal to your amplifiers they will run cooler/sound better. Best $25 you can spend on your stereo!

I can say with confidence the Rockville Phenom Marine Amps are very good. They are set up as SQ Class A/B amps with decent power and sound great (especially combined with a Polk DB+ Coaxial Speaker. This combo will exceed your expectations.). No problems so far with the amps running fine after a couple of years either. The only thing, this Marine class A/B amp does not support a subwoofer very well. So get the 4 or 6 channel, run ya 4 speakers, and 2 tweeters, and each have their dedicated channel. Then run your subwoofer with like a Stinger Class D monoblock and you be rockin' and sounding great. (On paper, nothing touches the Polk DB+ Marine speakers at any price).

In car audio you pretty much get what you pay for with few exceptions. Simply put, the cost of an amplifier is determined, by MFG economies of scale, the number and quality of components required to build the amp, feature set, etc. Cost to increase sound quality while increasing output go up exponentially, not linearly. You cannot compare this product with lets say an old school Soundstream Van Gough VGA 800.5. To be fair, the VGA is about 4 times more money per watt too. Is it 4 times better, probably not but it IS definitely better. As for the RCA thing, you can run multiple channels from a pair of RCA’s, the benefit of multiples is the ability to control attenuation (channel volume) remotely from the head unit. As for fuses, failure is pretty precise relative to the ratings for a given power/current rating. Just use supplied fuses to estimate output at a given voltage, not as a function of viability. One should NEVER mess with the “fail” values by increasing the threshold provided by the MFG, fires are very expensive! This looks like a pretty solid amp for the $$, exceptional output watts per $$. It’s nice to see that class D (and D-A/B hybrids) technology is at the point where size no longer matters. The industry is busting out with new, affordable high powered efficient amplifiers across the board; we all win for that and your vid’s keep it real.

I have this DB55 amp hooked to, 2 Kicker CS 6×9's front doors, Kicker CS 6.75's, rear deck, my head unit is pushing 4 Kicker CS 3.5's 2 in dash 2 in rear quarter panels, 😳 I have 2×12's Kicker Comp C's in the mail can't wait to Rock my Challenger RT this week.. I had a single Rockville 8" in the center rear deck on the 5th channel turned way low but its starting to rattle, I would highly recommend this amp to anyone that wants good clean sound that's not trying to blow out their windows !!!

I have been using one of these for 2.5 years and have had really no issues with it. It did have some issues going into protection mode due to low voltage. There was a 2.5v voltage drop at the battery terminals. Voltage at amp would get down to 10v at amp with volume cranked up and really pushing the sub channel. I have upgraded to a bigger subwoofer amp now, but still use this one for full range. My only complaint would be that it runs hot. I have compared this amp to a JL Audio 5 channel (3x the price) with very little difference in sound quality. Budget gem for sure!

Rockville is really taking over the budget amp world. People can say what they want but these amps are impressive to say the least. I took a chance on Rockville 2 years ago by buying one of their amps for my Harley and was impressed. Then got another one for my truck. I have been impressed since. Then I saw dyno's on Rockville amps and thats when I knew I had made the right choice. I have no doubt these amps will last. I had my reservations at first but I could not be happier. Best bang for buck amps ever made. I'm 63 years old and have been a car audio fan since I was 15.That's 48 years. Damn that is a long ass time. Now I'm getting depressed. I gotta go ride my Harley and listen to some rock n roll. One thing I have learned over my years of car audio interest. No matter what I always install small cheap fans to keep ANY amp I install as cool as possible before ever turning them on for the first time. Heat is a killer to ANYTHING and I live by that idea. I have not had an issue with heat in many many years. Better safe than sorry. Damn my Harley is getting hot. lol I'm outta here. Keep cool

Did you watch the video? It was rated to do 80w per channel into 4 ohms at 0.05% THD. It did just over 80, at 14.5v on a square wave, and was at 1%THD by 40wrms, so yeah I know what Im getting, garbage

@scott wright there are a few things that could be better. The wire goes in straight but the screw comes down at a angle. It works just not as well as it could. At the moment I have just a single run of 1/0 Sky High but I have no doubt dual inputs would fit. The amp is huge. Probably the biggest 3.5K being sold. Other than that yes it is a pretty good amp for the money.

Because the amp dyno is 2 channels..I can test 2 channels and put braking resistors on the other 2 channels... but I have seen some amps that are stronger and weaker on channels 3 and 4 vs 1&2.. when I run a 4 channel amp bridged at 8 ohms it equals out to 4 channels driven at 4 ohms and I get to see exactly how all 4 channels of the amp are performing simultaneously.

I've got the o series 5K on pre-order I hope that they actually start shipping them in a few days period last I knew about a week ago they were still having problems at the ports. I've been told the 5K does about 5,100 watts at 1 ohm. but it still does 4500 Watts at two ohms. Can't wait I've been feeding two 1500 RMS subs with a vad 1700.1.

It is a bandwagon thing, but that is a beautifully constructed board and unique. with that said it is crazy they can sell so cheap considering it is not a cookie cutter off the shelf build house amp as every other company that people jizz all over. JUST the 4 channel section is worth every bit of the price tag. Is there areas they can improve on, yes, just like every other amp in existance. There is nothing about this or the other rockville amps that would make them any less reliable as others. run them as intended and tune them properly and ta da. You know someone will run a 1ohm sub and push it past clipping (which I fucking hate that god damn phrase) blow it and it will spread like wild fire but the THOUSANDS of their other amps that do just fine you never will hear about. Too bad closed minds didn't come with closed mouths!

I set the gain to match the head unit. The amp dyno uses a DD1 internally to read the signal and help set the gain.

Every once in a while they would get hot and smell but let them cool and continued, and I was full tilt every time was driving so they had lots of play time. These "in-expensive" brands like Rockville, Dual, Boss, etc. are a hit or miss proposition. Some are more miss then hit (Blaupunkt?) but some actually sell a good product at a great price sometimes. This looks like one of those times. How long they last is a mystery. But you can say the same ting about most of the name brands as well. You pay your money and you take your chances. But videos like this are a huge help towards making a good decision.

Been using this amp since January. Have not had any issues with it at all. I do have to crank up the gain and bass boost to really make my sundown audio E-12v.4 hit hard. That bass knob light is VERY bright! Had to put a piece of electrical tape over it it was so blinding.

I have used this amp in my commuter car for a few months now and it does okay. I have channels 1-4 bridged to my front speakers, and the 5th channel ran at 1 ohm and it hasn't turned off yet surprisingly 😂😂 not bad for the money. I got mine for $100 of a friend.

I'm new to using one amp for my entire system would I be able to run my components at 4ohm on the mids and highs channels and utilize the 500 rms @2ohm on my subwoofers?
