That's what I'm wondering. Actually, forget the name Capri for once, can we talk about how many REDUNDANT SUVs and Crossovers pretty much every big brand has these days? I get that the market wants crossovers, but why do Ford and Toyota have so many similar, yet different crossover and SUV models? It just seems redundant to me. Ford has the Puma AND now the Capri. Toyota is an even bigger offender, with 9 different crossovers in the Asian markets alone. CH-R, Yaris Cross, Corolla Cross, AYGO, and that's just the four I could name off the top of my head. Absolute insanely. Wanna sell crossovers cause that's what (stupid) consumers want these days? Fine, but at least simplify your lineup with two crossovers, one low end and one higher end and sell those two everywhere. I'm tired of the sheer number of redundant crossover models when they ultimately are all similarly low end crap boxes.

Case in point the Fiesta which in its latest form was already way more expensive then the previous one. Sales that way would never reach the previous numbers. Ford knew that. They also knew that if you take the same platform and make it a bit taller, it would sell in better numbers even if they were charging more for it. The difference between the two cars was marginal and yet Ford was right. However you see it, in the end it all comes at the customer's preferences.

I had many memorable encounters with Porches, let alone a bunch of American muscles on Pacific Coast Highway. Considering the Capri runs on a small V6, I didn’t sell myself short and fought back relentlessly 😎 All the Capris after that era were never the same! Yeah, my first thought was that it's just the European version of the Mach-e... Except they didn't even give it a suffix. I guess because there's no regular Capri currently in production - which to me says they almost certainly would've simply called the Mach-e "the new Mustang" if they could've. It's so weird that they're both crossovers, the styling so clearly WANTS to be a regular saloon in both cases. If you just delete the black slab at the bottom and lowered the cars, they'd probably be pretty good electric saloons! But everything's gotta be crossovers now. With wobbly handling, paradoxically less luggage space, and (at least for me) are much harder to get-into than a traditional car.

The first thing I thought when I saw this car was "it's a Polestar 2". I mean, it isn't, but it might as well be. We are seeing more of these high-bootline crossover type designs - I've started calling it the "boat shoe" form factor.
@othersideguy166 ай бұрын
I really don't understand what demographic the marketing team thought this would appeal to, enthusiasts don't give two shits about more EV Crossovers/SUVs, and Capri fans will absolutely hate this for reviving an iconic name just to drag it through the dirt on such an unfit uninspired generic car. Then there's your average buyer who probably isn't all that much into cars to begin with, and chances are doesn't have any connection to the name or even care all that much, and even if they do, they aren't making their car buying decisions based on an old ford model name or nostalgia of older fords, they're buying based on what best fits their needs and budget, really in the end calling it Capri doesn't work for anyone

It is a VW ID4 trying to look like a Polestar 2. The key dimension you didn't give is width which I am getting as 187cm. That is almost the same as the Mach E and wider than the Polestar. Someone please tell car manufacturers that anything over 1.8m is too wide for European parking spaces etc.

I hate it when brands reuse old names on cars that are completely different than what they used to be... They did it with the Kuga(Cougar) then the Puma and now the Mustang and Capri... I bet they wont use the "Probe" name any time soon without it being a special police edition of the exploter :D

TO ANYONE UNDER THE AGE OF 45 - THIS CAR IS NOT FOR YOU AND YOU WERE NEVER THE TARGET AUDIENCE. "This Public service announcement is now over" I Do remember the Capri as a Kid in the 80's, cool car - although i imagine it would be killed by Fiesta ST now.

I owned a Tickford Capri which at the time could leave most other coupe's standing until it came to a corner, then like the Mustang you had to back off. This so called new Capri has me backing off as fast as i can. It is just another EV, if you must have one at least wait until the prices drop. Not Fords finest hour again.

I don’t get it, Fiat 500, Mini, VW Scirocco, Beetle we’re all relaunched and you could instantly tell what they are. A new Ford Capri, would have appealed to previous Capri drivers, but I can’t see many old Capri drivers wanting this out of principle so they have just illuminated a large group of potential customers.

As a kid, I have fond memories of my uncle picking me up for a ride in his Mk2 Capri. I was captivated by the low slung body, the unique interior & how fun it was compared to other cars. I even got to drive it in high school and it made the black MK1 MB ML my parents gave me feel like a penalty box. It gave me a fascination for not just sporty coupes but also a fascination in Ford. While I can accept Ford wanting to profitable in the EV market, they should leave the icons alone. This could've been a new icon all its own. For now, It just seems to be another EV "Coupe SUV" focused on profit that will blend in with the others in a parking lot near you.

On Pistonheads someone noted that the doors appear to be exactly the same as on the new Ford Explorer, so it is basically the Explorer coupe. I have seen an Explorer outside a Ford dealer but didn't get a chance to sit in it. The extra large Ford badge on the front of the Explorer looks tacky. I hope it doesn't fade like the ones on Kas did.
