To all dear viewers of this video for reference: This weapon is a version for hunting, the prototype of which was the TP-82 pistol developed by the Tula arms factory in 1981. It was created for Soviet cosmonauts as a means of survival in emergency situations. after the cosmonauts landed in the taiga or tundra, he could help protect himself from wild animals or get food until the rescue team arrives

lol that's such a classic soviet policy. Instead of calculating precisely where the cosmonaut would land and being close by ahead of the time, we'll just aim the spacecraft in the general area of siberia and we'll give the cosmonaut a gun to fend off wolves and polar bears until we get there.

What does Soviet politics have to do with it?! when landing modules, technical failures, unforeseen factors(I mean that time and that level of technology) very often occur and it is simply impossible to calculate all this. it's not about the calculations of the landing orbit. think with your head before you write

This is very interesting, especially due to the "Russian survival weapon" title. I have rock climbed for around thirty years with a Doctor friend. On one occasion, on the way to a climbing venue, we had to make a detour to drop off a gun he owned at a gunsmiths workshop. The gun in question, he informed me, was called a "drilling" and was a side by side twelve bore shotgun with a 7,62 rifle barrel underneath. The gun in question had been given to my Doctor friend by a guy who had walked from northern US to Russia . . . overland . . . or rather over sea ! Across the Bearings sea!!!!! Using the gun to hunt to survive along the way .. . ! Remarkable gun. Remarkable guy. Remarkable story.

The Russian guns are well made for cold and rough weather conditions. I owned a 12 Ga. Over and Under Shotgun for 15 years, with a mechanical switch as a choice between the 2 barrels for the first shot. It worked best without oiling gun parts. Made for Sibirean Hunters. But Cal. 7,62 X 54R, a case with a rim an d more power, is definitly the better round for all kinds of dear and moose, super precise even at a range of 500 yards.

MP-94 - a family of Russian-made rifles The IZH-94 "Taiga" combination shotgun was developed by gunsmith A. I. Matveev in 1992 based on the design of the IZH-27M double-barreled shotgun. It is produced at the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant. Until September 2008, the gun was produced under the name IZH-94 "Taiga", later it was renamed MP-94 "Taiga". In October 2019, at the Arms & Hunting 2019 arms exhibition held in Moscow, Techkrim CJSC presented a demonstration sample of the TK527 combined rifle based on the IZH-27 (a constructive analogue of the IZH-94 with a Picatinny rail). The upper trunk is smooth, payday or chock; The lower barrel is replaceable rifled for various cartridges of the main calibers: 5.56×45 mm NATO, 7.62×39 mm, 7.62×51 mm (.308 Winchester), 7.62×54 mm R, 9.3×74 mm R, etc. At the same time, the design of the weapon does not exclude the use of two smooth or two rifled barrels, and the rifled barrels can be for different ammunition. Materials - weapon steel and walnut wood. There is a chamfer on the muzzle of the bullet barrel to protect the easily vulnerable beginning of the rifling. The trunks are blued to increase their resistance to the adverse effects of the environment, the smooth trunk is chrome-plated from the inside. Both barrels are fixed together by soldering or coupling couplings, which allow the barrels to be adjusted relative to each other, which ensures the perfect behavior of the barrels during the shot. Horizontal adjustment is carried out at the factory and after that the barrels are fixed, the ability to adjust the average point of hit vertically is provided to the end user. The trigger mechanism is traditional: the triggers are hidden, after hitting the firing pin they become a safety cocking. Cocking of the triggers occurs when unlocking the barrels of the weapon. Variants and modifications: IZH-94 "Sever" is a combined rifle, the upper barrel is rifled for 5.6-mm caliber cartridges, the lower one is smooth 20-caliber with a muzzle narrowing of 0.5 mm. The weight of the weapon is 3.0 kg, the resource is 12.5 thousand shots. IZH-94 "Taiga" is a combined rifle, the upper barrel is rifled for 7.62 mm caliber cartridges, the lower one is smooth 12-gauge. IZH-94 "Scout" is a lightweight combined rifle (weight reduced to 2.76 kg), the upper barrel is rifled for the cartridge.22 LR, bottom smooth .410 caliber. IZH-94 "Express" - double-barreled rifle TK527 is a combined rifle manufactured by CJSC Techkrim (the upper barrel is chambered for 12/76 mm, the lower one is with a Lancaster drill for a 9.6/53 Lancaster cartridge), a Picatinny sight bar is installed.

The history of this weapon has started and continues nowadays only on the hunting basis. It is made on the base of the IZH-27 shotgun, the modern model of all Baikal guns is "MP" instead of "IZH", but it's just letters. I'm a russian hunter and i own one of these in 20 gauge (20х76+5,6х39). This gun has a big range of combinations in 12 gauge (223rem, 7,62x39, 54R, 308win, 30-06) and 20 gauge(22lr, 22wmr, 5,6x39). I love 7.62x39 for deer. Works great under 100 yards. Some states require you to use ammo that isn't an fmj though. I've found the cheap russian hollow points work great. I've gotten 2 deer with it so far and both of them ran about 20 yards and died. Shot placement is more important than caliber though
@brucecaldwell6701
@brucecaldwell6701 2 жыл бұрын
Shot placement is indeed more important. No need to cause unnecessary suffering to the animal. When I was a kid, I sometimes deer hunted with a 16 ga. over .222 but never hit one with it which was probably just as well because that's probably what would have happened & I'd probably have lost the deer anyway.

I'm from Sweden and this kind of break action rifles are common here we uses it for driven Hunt on rodeer and in some cases the roder apperes in like maybe 80yards and then you will use the bullet. The most common is 7x62R 223 is hard to load in this kind of rifels becuase it is not a R round

Not exactly "rare" here in EU, as said. This kind of "dual caliber" rifles are known as "Drillings" here. There's even versions with more than 3 barrels and calibers in one. They're pretty handy in countries where you need a separated license for each of your guns, and don't want to spend tons of time and money trying to get one gun for each caliber.

It would be just fine for a foraging gun. Ranges up to 100 yards with Brenneke 12 ga slugs, and soft point 7.62x39 for deer. Assorted shot loads for other game to 30 yards and a FMJ bullet for maybe turkey. A lot of options as a wilderness survival gun. And it has potential for very large game such as moose or bear with proper ammo selection. Jack of all trades in a pinch.

Reminds me of a gun my dad inherited from his grandfather which he had ordered through a hardware store sometime in the early 50's I believe. It was a 16ga. over a .222 & made in Austria & had gorgeous engraving on both sides of the chamber. He paid around $800 for it which, of course, was quite expensive in those days. His granddaddy, however, greatly devalued it by drilling & tapping holes in it to mount a scope.

I have one of these in 223 instead of 7.62x39. Pretty accurate gun considering. It comes in 308 and 30-06 also so everyone calm down about the 54R. You can also get chokes for it, it has a scope mount, front sight is adjustable for elevation and rear sight for windage. It also has 2 dove tails so you can move the rear sight forward or backward. Another neat thing is on the front hand guard you can pull a little lever and break the gun in half for packing it around.
