yeah. presentation and presenter's overall mood goes a long way when putting on a show. topic of discussion enough sometimes isn't enough to keep the viewer/listener tuned in. Mark Levine offers similar political views to Michael Savage; yet it's hard to stay tuned to Levine for more than 10 minutes, while I can listen to Savage for 10 hours straight and feel the show was cut too short when it's over after 10 hours.

I don't mean to sound rude, but anyone who looks at this, and thinks "An old lever gun, who would want that?" must be out of their damn mind. This is a piece of history! Even a modern repro is still something special because it enables you to experience shooting as one would have 100 years ago. Maybe that's meaningless to some, but to me there's something transcendent about connecting with the past like that. I have an undying love of history, and being able to share an experience with people in the past helps to deepen one's understanding of those people, and their time. Not to mention, many of the old firearms like the Henry, or your Colt Dragoon with the engraving on it are absolutely beautiful. They're works of art in their own way. Thanks again for keeping these guns alive, and sharing them with us!

In addition to the devastation they caused in the civil war, there were also many 1860 Henry rifles present at Custer's Last stand in 1876. Unfortunately for Custer, it was the Indians who had them. For anyone that argues against the existence of stopping power, watch the Henry Rifle knock over that 15-17 lb propane tank at 20:34
@error4522 жыл бұрын
The stopping power does not exist only in handguns as the temporal cavity generated during the moment when the projectile is crossing the body due to the elasticity of the tissues of the human body returns to its place leaving the permanent cavity with an approximate diameter of the caliber of the short weapon used. In other types of weapons such as shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, machine guns, among others, the permanent cavity is the size of the temporal cavity because the energy of the projectile is very large and tissue tearing occurs during the emergence of the temporal cavity.

It is interesting when reading the history of this iconic firearm how Oliver Winchester tried so hard to get the US Army to buy this weapon at the beginning of the civil war and the prejudices he ran into by the man who ran the ordinance department there. This General whose name was Sibley who had the lone discretion of buying these rifles hated repeating rifles and thought every soldier should have a single shot muzzle loading rifle and that "was good enough" for fighting the rebels. One wonders how many months and how many lives could have been saved if the Union would have seen the error in this mans ways and had these rifles issued to Union troops. Can anyone imagine troops who had these repeaters going up against a bunch of soldiers who were firing weapons that you could only load and fire at 3 rounds minute? (Later on Custer found out when his cavalry had single shot Spencers while the Souix were using Winchester repeaters.) It boggles the mind how stupid some management people can be while they have men killed when they could have very easily had shortened that bloody 4 year civil war.

Yeah, but what about the reduction in crime? From what I heard, gun crime was reduced there by increasing by up to 70% with their gun buyback. What a joke. Gun control promotes crime, it doesn't reduce it at all. And last I heard, homemade machine pistols were turning up there, as I predicted. Gun laws will only prevent law abiding citizens from having guns, the criminals don't obey the laws, so they'll have guns no matter what.

I really think this gun will steal the show. Can't wait. thanks for a great video.

Both of these Henrys are beauties...I bought my 1st Henry a couple years back now... It is a Golden Boy .22LR I picked from a gun dealer on the NH side of the river, whom had bought it from an estate in Vermont. Brand spanking new in the box with all the papers... It is a Limited Edition ( 8 ) of ( 100 ) made under license from a company named Historical Armory... It has special engravings on both sides of the brass & stock dedicated to Caledonia, Vermont which is in the next county just north of where I live...I fully intend to use it, however I haven't fired a round through it yet! I will treasure this gun forever, although at 67 years young, I ain't gettin' any younger! Excellent presentation here on a rare Henry rifle that dates back to the Great Civil War. Bill on the Hill, Vermont, USA...

I wonder how the famous Civil War line battles would have went if everyone had these instead of muskets? Probably like 10 times the casualties and both lines would utterly obliterate each other
@alexmakov800910 жыл бұрын
Maybe not, if both sides had these rifles, they would have used completely different tactics, instead of lining up and fire as if they are executing each other.
@ozgurtaylann10 жыл бұрын
If I am not mistaken it is actually what happened in Civil War. Casualities are far more numereous than traditional musket wars such as Napoleonic Wars due to the high accuracy of rifles used.
@phatcatrat10 жыл бұрын
Union Cavalry brigades often used the Spencer Rifle, a similar repeater which was capable of firing a shot every 3 seconds. Although just over a hundred thousand were produced for the Union Army, the first Union generals initially rejected its usage on the basis of tradition, and when it was finally adopted, Union commanders ordered that it not be fired to the fullest extent of its rate of fire to conserve ammo. This made it no more useful than normal muskets, unfortunately.
@tankmaster101810 жыл бұрын
phatcatrat thats really interesting actually
@nateo20010 жыл бұрын
I always wonder this but then I take it a different step. What if you had a time machine, roughly the size of a phone booth and you had to go back to the Civil War or even the revolutionary war. What would you bring? I mean think about it! Even one AR-15 with say 500 rounds! throw in a couple of Glocks in 9mm and it would be stupid easy to win. Weird thought but whatever.

@toddposton8694 жыл бұрын
The evolution of the lever gun came with a bullet shaped cutout in the magazine tube (despite the rod being fully and easily removable), to discourage vertical loading, and promote loading with the rifle at more of a level pitch.
