I learned about the Big Damn Band when they opened for Flogging Molly years ago. They came on stage and my puck rock self thought "dafuq is this?" And immediately stopped thinking that once they started playing! Love Rev and Breezy! Seen them a dozen times since that show (including at midnight show at a local spot). Great music and even greater people! Rev and I went and raided a local record shop together. I was pulling vinyl of old metal, he was pulling old blues albums. We sat outside the venue and swapped some for fun. Love them!

I dropped $700 of hard earned money on airfare to see the BDB in Denver at the Globe. Best 7 bills I ever dropped. They blew that room away. You will never, ever see the BDB at the CMA awards because they would wipe the stage. Such are the politics of music. I don't give a damn for what passes for country music these days, I'll take folk any day.

In the '70s I was given a similar Supro, also with the gold "mother of toilet seat" covering. Mine had a screw-on output jack, like microphones had then. The guy also gave me a small National/Valco amp that had two 6x9" speakers in it. I wish that I still had them both and think of them every time I see Rev. Peyton playing this beautiful Supro. I never heard music this good coming out of mine, though. 🙃

5 years ago, 2014, I was wandering through Nellieville, a town created from junk in Deer Isle, Maine. In one of the buildings was a poster for a Blues Festival in Hattiesburg, MS held in 1974. These guys along with John Lee Hooker were headliners. These guys have paid their dues.
